I've read a few of the Long Covid-19 accounts, from younger people
who's lives have been devasted - hopefully there is some longer
term resolution, but unfortunately in some case the damage may be irreversible.

I watched one interview with a guy, can't have been more than early 40's,
not overweight etc, who has been left with such damage to his lungs
that he is now on oxygen support longer term.
He spoke to the reporter between breaths of oxygen and sounded
like an end of life COPD patient.

For anyone wondering whether to have a vaccine, it might be worth
considering the potential risk of not having it.
Particularly if there are more virulent mutations to come,
which a vaccine will hopefully give at least some protection from,
or mitigate more severe illness.

GSK and AZN will not make a commercial return on Covid-19.

Yes it's great news other options may be available to fight the pandemic.

Best commercial case is these may have wider applications post pandemic.

Covid-19 has already been hideously costly for GSK in lower vaccination uptake.

We find out on the FY just how costly.

But we can at least hope for better things to come for GSK.

May be a bit bumpy for wider markets.

I'm hoping it might, stress on might, mark an important
low for the GSK SP.

price action may develop very differently.

The issue with GSK, well one of them is lower vaccination uptake.

GSK spelt this out on the Q2 update, I posted the relevant paragraph here.

The pandemic is costing GSK dearly, but hopefully that will change.

Progressing their oncology pipeline is absolutely key.

An MCX tracker is Up over 300% since the 2009 low.

Some of the UK focussed smaller and mid cap funds have produced
extraordinary returns over the last decade.

There are always options.

Again it's stock selection.

Look at the extraordinary returns PRU has produced over 20 years.

High quality and consistent growth will be rewarded, stagnation will not.

Look at their longer term records.

Plenty of growth in the UK market for those that open their eyes.

Today, just under £100 bn.

If a company prospers and grows it will be re-rated.

There is a wall of money currently looking for investment,
look at the current boom in private equity.

Find high quality, growing companies rather than stagnation.

Stagnation will not be rated highly by the market.

And as for BT, I'm trying not to laugh here, learn to read a ballance sheet.

Good fortune with your investments.

Plenty of fantastic UK companies, look at a 30 year price chat of Halma, as just one example.

The order book is electronic.

Completely agree, a COVID-19 vaccine re GSK or AZN,
does not drive valuation.

There are approx 20 COVID-19 vaccines in Phase 3 testing,
double that in Phase 2 .

Both GSK and AZN have clearly stated it's non profit.

GSK is not producing top line growth and is rated as such.

That may change, but for now that is how the market sees GSK.

Net debt has also crept higher over the last decade,

Lept might be more apt!.

AZN is primarily a play on their oncology assets and

now with the latest acquisition, specialist diseases.

Both my parents have now had the first dose of Oxford/AZN vaccine.

Obvs there is no guarantee that GSK will develop a successful candidate.

Successful vaccines are Key to ending the pandemic.

To be fair the SP had perhaps got ahead of events.
