My view is based on what happened to Man's price in the article I included, i.e.Man's price dropped 17% for a 6.1% drop in AHL to 97p. Then to what did not happen to Man's price over the period from Mar 6 2014 AHL until first deals this morning when AHL had increased by 15% in that period, i.e. no reciprocal increase in Man's price as it has been what it was this morning several times for other reasons . Then add 3.8% for the reduction in the number of shares of the so called Share Repurchase and their cancellation, plus let alone the 7% it went up on the news of the Numeric acquisition. That all adds up to well over 138p. Even the rise from then, although welcome, doesn't compare with the fall as indicated in the article. Charts, PE, mean very little in these circumstances of sheer manipulation.

UBS AG also lowered its recommendation on the shares to neutral from buy. The brokerage said that the fund’s recent performance will cut earnings. Bloomberg. .................. Yet Mans price has not improved for a 15% rise in AHL, from March 24th. And that's not taking account for Share Repurchase, plus acquisitions. All of which, by comparison, should put Man's SP somewhat north of 138p.

Hi dduck, yes that was 5p down from the high of March 24th. So it has only come back to Mar 24 price range despite AHL being up 15% and only 4-5% to HWM, plus the acquisitions of Pine Grove, Numeric not forgetting that that Share Repurchase Scheme was to consolidate Man's SP and increase it. (by 3.8% in my calculations). Forgot to say that I'm writing regarding what has been going on since GS were given the 'Share Repurchase Scheme' also asking those in authority to look into the matters relating to AHL's improved performance yet the suppressing of Man's Share Price.

Not a glimmer in the SP even though AHL now 15% higher than at March 24th this year, yet price is still the same or thereabouts as then. How long is GS or whoever, going to be allowed to depress Man's price. If GS or whoever wants to make a t/o bid, low that it would probably be, then they should come out of the closet and do so, or P off. It is ridiculous as to what is going on. It is not just sneaky, it is immoral and illegal from what I read of the LSM rules. After this length of time suppressing Man's price LSM has every right and duty to inform those responsible to put up or stop.

That's probably because Man are vulnerable at this low price and getting to be attractive due to the improving fund performances. I mention GS because I fear that they are doing is similar to what Vodafone did when acquiring Cable & Wireless Worldwide and got them at half the going rate. (Including my shares). Even 130p would be a 20% premium on today's price, but could become more as I believe GS is catalyst to Man's price being so low. All My Own Opinion that may or not prove to be correct.

on the DiscussTheMarket board wiesje's post regarding Bank of New York Mellon possible involvement in Man brings to mind that back in 2010 it was given in the Daily Mail that BNYM were 'putting together a bid of 380p'. Man's price was 240p or so. Therefore, getting Man now for 150p would indeed be a snip especially with the current improvement in Man's AHL performance, now $1.206, and the acquisitions, Numeric & Pine Grove. However, I believe they would have to deal with Goldman Sachs as OIMO GS have a degree of controlling aspects in Man. Perhaps they are thinking of finalising there taking control of Man with a bid.. (My guess would be as low as 130p).

AHL Est Nav is now $1.1997 up another smidging 0.2 to 1.1 on week so far to Friday. I reckon its just 6-7% below HWM. but over 13% higher than it was on March 24 2014..

shared by British Bulls .i.e. major bullish reversal pattern, which is even more significant than a regular Bullish Harami. Historically such forecasts appear to put on 20% or so. Lets hope dduck & Brit Bulls are proved right and and my pessimism is wrong.

Thanks, your views are respected if not entirely agreed with. Share your hopes on dividend, however can't have much hope in a rise in share price based on its performances, as it hasn't risen any for the 12% improvement of AHL or for any of the other important news we've had recently, not forgetting the amount of shares consolidation. More so due to the Chief Financial Officer selling shares at today's prices only to buy back when the price to goes down, (could well be one of the factors in its declne) What signal does that send to the market? If such a director doesn't have faith in the company and wants to work to see it recover then they should have the dignity to leave. Certainly should not undermine the good work of others.

dduck probably obviously you've seen that AHL is up to $1.1978 verging on $1.20 which will be 6 1/2% or so below HMW.

despite all the efforts being made to raise the price of this share by other members of this company, (i.e. getting AHL up to $1.1917, improving other funds, acquiring new companies, reducing the amount of shares on the market), our Chief Financial Officer appears to have little value for Man's share price, as it seems as soon as it gets to a a little over £1 he sells EMG shares. For certain, if I valued this company so little as a director, (especially Chief Financial Officer), I would apologise and resign immediately.

Jonathan Sorrell sold shares this morning. Wonder why, especially at this time? However, it appears our Chief Financial Director bought 21,461 shares with div @ 131.76 on June 13 last year and sold them in a tranch of 44,650 three weeks later @ 85.65. So not to worry.

Expect you've seen that AHL seems to have coped well, up another 0.4 to the highest its been since May 28 last year. Yet the share price is still kept down, who for?. Maybe something in that I've seen quite a number of 8000 & 5700 buys going through intermittently.

AHL is up 12% from March 6, The 'buy Back was supposed to add 3.8% to Man's consolidated share price, there has been new additions to Man Group, (Pine Grove, Numeric) that s said to increase FUM considerably, there is still enough surplus cash for a special dividend and/or further acquisitions, yet Man's share price is down from the 101.8 as it was then. Obviously, the price is being manipulated negatively, so regarding the following:- US authorities have launched a securities fraud lawsuit against Barclays (LSE: BARC.L - news) linked to its private trading system, or "dark pool". of spending hours and hours doing all the company research to determine fundamentals, prospects etc, when market makers can just drop the companies price in the face of sneaky Irresponsible Shorters regardless of that companies performance. Unfortunately, they keep making almost impossible for pi's to operate in the LSM unless they somehow become part of the conspiracies. What kind of cesspit is that be to invest in?

I believe that Irresponsible Shorting, i.e. pulling a share price down for no other reason than to make easy money, (especially when it is against the performance of a company), does as much if not more harm to the UK economy as terrorism. Therefore, I look upon it as 'Financial Terrorism' and stop ought to be put on it and quickly. I mean to say, if a jockey or trainer or even owner arranged a horse to be pulled back in a race, they probably would be banned and fined. That's because it has regulators, (Stewards), that survey the activity and usually act accordingly. What in the world does London Stock Market have? Even though it has rules it certainly doesn't seem to have anyone actively equivalent. Also those who lend shares that are used for that purpose should be held accountable. (for aiding and abetting). All IMO.

Thanks. A good few years off and on, mainly on though with a few hefty prices left in my portfolio and I keep good records. Don't normally take part on bb's whether I'm invested in them or not. I started on this bb in April 2012 as I see Man group as being wrongfully manipulated and will continue to say so until I feel something is being done about it. It would appear that due to AHL's revival the August results will be good, if not great. That alone should have increased the share price considerably by now never mind in the future. So, especially with the other additions, I have to say, it'll be even better if they announce that the remainder of the surplus will go on a special dividend. After all, I believe that the majority of the surplus was from reduced dividends over the past 4 years or so.
