Steve, your last sentence is correct, but not this one "For example 10m of gold at 10g/t is effectively the same as 1m at 100g/t, so you need to consider both factors." For example, if you lost your wedding ring in a sample bag, that might assay as 1 metre of 300g/t. A freaky headline number, but no real indication that we have 20 year's worth of rocks to sell. Whereas 100 metres of 3g/t might say exactly that.
Gram/metres are a widely used metric, but there's kinda a sweet spot where they tell the truth. 3kms of 0.1g/t au is no use to anybody, so too with 0.1m @ 3000g/t. Whereas 25m @ 12g/t is just lovely. Each of which is 300 gram/metres.
The longer intercepts imply a $-value over a much larger 3-dimensional volume than the short intercepts do. Whereas the shorter intercepts - with the same overall gram/metres - imply a much higher value per ton of rock.
