Understand NDA's have signed quite a few, my point is GS should be more proactive to jolly Shell along. Maybe he is behind the scenes. Shareholders being treated as mushrooms does the SP no good whatsoever.

Barchid, when you mentioned Carillion, who I seem to remember had it's HQ in Wolverhampton. Mere co-incidence! However I had to smile when seeing the defunct company's name. At the time I consistently warned PI's it was going down the plug-hole. The abuse I received was incredible. The rest is history. At least one opponent had the decency to apologise when the Company went under.
No PI should think the same will occur here, we are a long way from Carey Street.

Any Windfall Tax can only be Levied against Companies realising exceptional profits. Deltic are not making any profit and unlikely for sometime yet.

Separating Pubs from Motels will not be easy. Not sure Pubs have the attraction they did 10 years ago...overheads etc are a killer. The Motels certainly have attractions. Having stayed at both Marstons and Premier, Whitbread do have a better focus on customers, staff are better trained and from my experience more helpful. Get the impression Marstons staff are over worked and consequently can be a little more stressed. If Premier were interested ( they do have a significant War-chest), they will likely Cherry-pick and only in locations where motels are not in competition.
Apart from Debt, the Brain's deal could be a bear-trap for any potential suitor. Why MARS took on a run-down estate beggars belief.
The Platinum offer ( 107p), which could have been increased, would have been good for majority of Shareholders, regretably it was not put to PI's, for reasons best known to Ralph Findlay.

WW succinctly put. At the time of the Carlsberg deal, I suggested the company begin to re-invent itself. The Brewery, our Crown Jewels, was/is far less labour intensive than the hospitality arm. Staffing for many Businesses has become a serious resource issue, working from home has not helped, and then patrons get the experience Barchid related a few days ago. The Chairman's purchase last week does give a level of confidence, but then maybe he considers a total loss here is unlikely whereas to buy another Racehorse could be exactly that. When you have money to burn it is neither here nor there where is is invested.

Serious headwinds coming. Brewery costs will rise explonetially, energy costs, barley prices have virtually doubled in the last 9months. Food cost will rise in excess of inflation, the company will partially offset with further efficiences, passing on limited price increases. The intention being to have 3 grades of motels/restruants, Family(Community)..Signature (90 pubs to be converted to give a Country Pub Feeling and Revere a Pub/Restruant to provide a high experience for those with High Level of Disposable Income.

Even though the market is down, it does not seem impressed.SP down 7.2%

In comparison M&B 's figures are better. Debt reduced by £250m, profits recovering well. Warns of the same threats facing all Hospitality providers. Serious headwinds coming.
The market prefers M&B's figures/report with the SP down 1.4% in line with the general market.

Totaltrades, your emergence here a day or 2 before Accounts are declared speaks volumes. A common ploy used by traders, here today gone tomorrow merchants, who have no real interest in the long term growth of a company.
As stated earlier, please read my posts here. I want to see sound growth and not an artificial jack-up of the SP to suit short term strategies.
It has been a long time since Mars were at 120p and then when a good dividend was being paid and we totally owned a reputable Brewery. We still own a share of a brewery (40%) but do not get account figures for CMBC, maybe that will be addressed this week? Can only hope.

Figures declared this week, will confirm which Broker is correct.

With Mars and M&B reporting this week, comparitors will tell us a lot about the financial health of both. M&B who raised funding 18 months ago have been making ominous noises recently.
