Like most rigs, whether semi-submersible, jack-up etc they require anchors set to maintain stability. Much depends on depth of water.

Sea bed anchors were put in place a week ago. A guard vessel is required to protect from other vessels ( fishing especially), until the Rig is secured.

Do you know what type of anchors WP deploys?

There are 5 support vessels around WP and at Verbier, which is more than usual and would seem to indicate they are preparing for severe weather, but eh SOB you are the expert!

According to Marine Traffic, as of 8.00am, WP is approx. 20Km from Verbier where Scandi Iceman is Guarding. There are a number of other support vessels both at Verbier and accompanying WP. Assume this number of vessels are being used so that WP can be safely secured ahead of the imminent Storm Freya.
