@Orange. They have already done the wireline. Your question about how do they know where to test the well answers that question--they run the wireline to ID potential production zones in an open hole. It can be done after running the casing but gives less valuable information. They may want to run a different wireline to check the integrity of the cement on the new tubing run but I would be surprised if they haven't already completed the wireline the I'D's the potential production zones - it is a very quick process- in and out in a couple of hours. The tubing/casing/liner whatever anyone wants to call it runs from the surface to the bottom of the hole and has to be gas tight. They may run a wireline to check integrity of the concrete and they may do a pressure test on the pipe--they dont want gas escaping into the annular space. They already know where to penetrate the tubing to do the well test, I believe they have already done the wireline for that. The test we await is a production test. Perforate through the liner, through the mud cake and into the formation and let it flow into the liner - starting at the bottom.

@Orange. Yes mate the SP is dire after such good news. Mr Market is not buying the story yet which is somewhat frustrating. . I mentioned 18 as it was the last price I paid before the casing run so we are at least a reasonable step up from there but still adrift from the 27p I recall in the halcyon days. I guess we are all frustrated to see other stocks jumping up on no news and with no prospects but are rising 'just because'. Hex is floundering in the low 20's and a 25m ish mcap when it should be 30p plus. ( in our tiny minds ).

IHNC. The thing they are doing in stages is well testing, this is not wireline test---i.e. they will be blasting holes into the casing and into the formation through the mud skin and allowing the gas to enter the well. Start at the bottom, work up, then plug the lower bit that they have already tested so as not to comingle and then work their way through each of the areas of interest blasting holes and setting removable plugs. Plugs obviously go just below the zone they are testing to keep whatever is happening below the new area of test, and out of the equation. They may then decide to test the combined areas once they can see which zones are producing what and how much. This zonal information will help design the next well and to get an indication of the reservoir characteristics and potential productivity from each zone and the combined figures. What we are looking for is high permeability in natural fractures and a sustainable decent flow without pressure drop and without other unwanted elements - in all zones please Mr Bojangles. Repeat for Ingomar 2 and Rudyard and then sell the whole show for £2 a share.

From a non-geologist. From what I understand, during the majority of pre-cambrian periods there was zero oxygen elements in the atmosphere. As the Precambrian started to enter Cambrian, this period is where 'life as we know it captain' started to form with plant life arriving and the process of photosynthesis developed, creating and oxygenated atmosphere. During this time the oxygen reacted with elements such as iron to form iron oxide. Iron oxide when saturated in water separates Hydrogen. Therefore, my theory is that the end of precambrian to cambrian period is where the natural hydrogen was formed and therefore it may not be necessary to drill into the Cambrian period rock, only to get into the period after the development of photosynthesis/oxygenation where iron oxide was formed from the O2 explosion. I doubt there is a conclusive date stamp for that exact period therefore to argue that the well has 'failed to reach its target' is perhaps futile as the Pre-cambrain to cambrian took millions of years and it is impossibe to say exactly when one finishes and the next begins. Pour some cream on your coffee and the top bit is still cream and the bottom bit is still coffee but the interface is neither one or the other lol.

"we see promising results in each of the target formations" = Already wireline tested to determine suitable test zones after deepening.

A few days to run liner and cement it. Testing starts around the end of the week.

Yeah, could be that too, hence why I said pity they didnt show the rig from the opposite angle so we could see whether the casing was still racked. Casing run when done in stands of 3 instead of individual pipes would be fairy quick at the depths we a re looking at, maybe as few as 25 casing joints performed while running them in. As I said the other day, 1 shift may even be enough to get the casing in. Drill pipe in the picture is still in singles so maybe they are making up the stands in advance of extending the well -

@prospector. they may just do a pressure test to ensure isolation from the remaining well bore. but hey, the may do other integrity tests alongside the pressure test. More than 1 way to skin a cat --- whoops, sorry office.

That pipe laying in the piperack is drill pipe and not casing. They could still be running pipe with some sort of drill bit or specialist tool through the swollen/damaged shale to make sure there is clearance prior to casing. Pity they didnt show a shot of the rig from the other angle so that we could see whether those casing strings were still sitting there.
