Their poor start is down to wrong choice of area to mine it being non commercial which left them going round with a begging bowl.
Their intention to become a supplier of coal to E Africa is about to be realised. There's a demand for their coal both local and international, they have enough coal to not only supply their planned CFPP but other projects as well. The increasing demand and rising price of coal
plus their expanded area puts EDL, due to their much improved financial position, in a strong bargaining position.
Why by any stretch of the imagination would they give that up without a substantial pay back?

SoS, read your post if that reasoning keeps you happy I wish you well. Let's see what the next RNS says.
Re aerial and ILTL I think he is quite clear that that the failure of the take over was down to Covid.
Why would ILTL import personnel from global locations to a country who's president said go to church to make yourself immune to Covid?
Fortunately businesses realised the problem.and took their own precautions hence EDL's lack of production.
Staffing was a problem and still is due to Covid but it is easing.
The 3k tonnes pm, why would ILTL import their personnel if production is still hampered by the effects of Covid, I think ILTL have their own personnel's health to think of and who could fault them on that.
So 3k tonnes pm increasing should ease their concerns and give them some encouragement to take over.
The price of coal in S Africa I believe is up over 40% I can't see ILTL turning down such a lucrative opportunity when they were prepared to take over a year ago on a much lower coal price.
Coal not EDL's future??????? It will finance their future even if they are bought out.

The delay with ILTL has been given an explanation in a RNS, which will be as much as you will get, so little point harping on about it.
The 3k tonnes pm condition I would guess is so that ILTL can continue without any delay in production and just slot their personnel into place.
3k tonnes pm should not present a problem if as they say everything is in place to build up to the full capacity of the washer. That is what we will find out in due course.

SoS, TB is exploring future acquisitions, he says. What are they/ How will they be funded/when will there be a return?
Coal is at this moment in time our only source of immediate income and according to the RNS our future income. If TB can improve on that all well and good and who will argue? The RNS is quite clear our immediate future is coal. If TB can improve my share value by diversifying (I don't mean in another ten years) then I'm all for it.
If you can explain to me how EDL is going to increase shareholder value in the next 12 months by a means other than coal I am all ears.

Aerial I've said it before SoS seems to have a rain cloud hanging over his head the size of a dustbin lid.
When the interest in trading picks up I will take that as indicating news imminent.
We should now be in a genuine transformational phase but we need that update !
I have no doubt that the increasing price of coal will be causing some intense discussions re contracts.

SoS, we all read the news releases, you obviously see what I don't, the last update stated that we were producing coal with the aim of consolidating contracts with a target of 3k tonnes to satisfy ILTL, plus a full order book to come, and what was their original aim a CFPP. As I have seen no news release to contradict that I
see no need to speculate outside of what might happen to their current source of income which is a coal mine with sufficient coal for 30yrs plus.
If they can't make this work who will trust them on a new venture?

Is increasing globally, along with its price, the transporters of coal are run off their feet.
People despite all the demands for greener power supplies, realise that the means to provide power in sufficient quantity still depends on coal.
We are 1 month into the 3rd Q, and as yet no update and no indication from the trading volume of imminent news, whenever/whatever news is released it is going to prove interesting.

It would have been good to have some feedback from the AGM but having not attended I have no grounds for complaint.
It would seem logical to only give a months progress once the the month has been completed, so, next week might be a reasonable expectation.
I did expect some sort of encouraging update before the AGM but as has already been pointed out, that sort of effort is not in EDL's mandate.

The current rapid rise in coal price (I can't see this being sustained, who knows) has most likely caused some intense negotiations with regard to contracts, something that we will find out about in due course.
3.14 you are correct it's good to be kept up to date, and as we all know EDL's history in that respect is impeccable. LOL

Up 40% since may, @$149, all we have is silence from EDL.

But difficult for some!

EDL's future may not be coal it may be diversification which may or may not include coal, acquisitions may come along with funding but income from those ventures are some way off. Currently our only source of income is coal and efforts to develop that income should continue. I imagine that the profit margins on coal are, at this moment in time, greatly improved.

Coal at this moment in time is getting more expensive to buy, it's something that we have plenty of, it is in demand from various industries plus the power pool. These are things that we know, the current large investors are here for one purpose, to make a profit, they have sufficient information to encourage them parting with their cash , so whatever information they have must be substantial and way above what we know, for that reason alone this is a buy in my book.
As a crumb pecking investor I agree with other posters we do need a substantial update.

There's no indication from recent trades of any news release, I'm sure that if there's anything good to be released it would/will be released before the AGM.
They still have 2 months for the expected orders to fill the order book.
There's one thing EDL is good at and that is silence!

I did expect the trades to pick up this pm of news was due tomorrow, having said that I didn't expect my original purchase to be disappearing in the dust on the floor.
