Mkango / Hypromag have been really active on LinkedIn in the last few months. There have been plenty of posts covering the relationship between Hypromag and academic institutions, including one I read the other day made me think. It was about Hypromag GmbH's relationship with Pforzheim University, which is one of Germany's leading applied sciences universities.
I think having such strong connections with the leading critical materials academic institutions in both the UK and Germany is really crucial and gives us a competitive advantage. These R&D partnerships enhance our IP and drive forward the limits of what we can do in the recycling space e.g. grain boundary diffusion to make higher performing recycled magnets. But they also provide a pipeline of talented scientists and engineers to work at our plants. One of the key challenges of the West right now, is both the experienced know how at senior levels, but also the pipeline of younger workers that will be needed for this buildout.
I am interested to know the plan for staffing the US plants, given there is not a lot of expertise over there and there will be a lot of competition for it. One option would be for staff to be developed in the UK and Germany before going over on secondment / permanent moves to the US. Thus the roll out timing would be optimal, as the US plants could both learn from the design, construction and commissioning of the UK / German plants, but also benefit from the pipeline of talent that we are developing to solve the resourcing gap. Would love to ask Will this question.
