Personally I'm not a fan of crypto, but at the same time I'm not trying to say that money hasn't been / can't be made there. I was just making the point that people who have doubts / issues with the current centralised fiat monetary system would have traditionally mostly invested in gold and miners, but the arrival of crypto has meant a lot those investors / speculators have gone there instead. With the seeming end of the current crypto bull cycle, and gold doing well, I think we get some rotation from crypto to gold. That's just a hypothesis, rather than an anti-crypto statement.
I stated that crypto trades as a high risk asset currently, rather than digital gold, a hedge for the S&P or as a safe haven and regardless of the gain in the last 5 years I don't think anyone can argue with that point. It is possible that Bitcoin may in future become a safe haven asset, it just isn't at the moment. Will it do well in the long term if central banks continue to pump money into the system, quite possibly, time will tell.
