Many were maxed out on credit before COVID so Cod knows where they stand now. Last time I heard the EU had not managed to agree it's covid bailout because Poland and Czech Republic had broken major EU rules, had been excluded from the bailout money and so vetoed it.............. I predict Italy will go the way of Greece and sink the whole lot in the next 5 years. Glad we are out.

Following completion of this sale, Cairn will pay a special dividend of 32 pence per eligible ordinary share amounting to a return of approximately US$250m or £188m to shareholders and complete a consolidation of Cairn's ordinary share capital. The thought occurs to me if the information has only just been sent to the regulator it is going to be a few weeks at least before we get a decision. India could appeal, but the arbitration panel was unanamous and if they appeal they run a huge risk of losing and incurring even more interest and legal costs.
If I were them, and assuming it is allowed I would try to negotiate paying the fine in 2 or 3 stages over a few years.
