I have a feeling "MrMagic" is going to need his magic wand if he/she has a short porition here.
Cruise ships will be able to take all their passengers to whichever Countires get the green light, and even if that light goes red they simply do not dock and go elsewhere. Airlines on the other hand need all, or most destinations to get the green light before they can get anywhere near back to normal. Both will IMHO, but cruise holiday Companies will recover first IMHO, and will be fully booked by people desperate to go abroad. I think they have a big advantage.

All very well but only a handful of Countries will be on the "Green" list. I have read Cyprus and Malta may be on the list. However the whole of central Europe, so France, germany, Italy etc... you will (if you are allowed to go) have to quarantine for the 10 days on return. Looks like travel abroad extremely limited until other Countires catch up on the vaccine front and that it going to take months. Summer may be ended before France, Italy, Spain are opened up. At lwast some more plances will be flying. Bottom line is lack of vaccinations in Central Europe has put everything back so the summer window may be over.

Unlike the airlines which I think are in deep trouble with central Europe's COVID problems cruise ships can take all the passengers to, for instance Malta assumeing it gets the green light. I should think they will have no problems getting bookings!!

abroad on holiday goes reading the news this morning. More opening up in May put back to June etc.
Eventually things I think will return to nearer normality but not this summer, and that is pretty obvious.
Maybe people will be able to fly to Malta and Cyprus but opening up France, Spain, Germany, Italy and just about all of central Europe is not going to happen this summer by the looks, and that is what was expected.
