RE: How come the airlines are fairing better today? I say again25 Mar 2021 14:18
"Airlines are a quick short term travel prospect. You're in and out in a matter of hours, job done.".
- With air lines you have to get off the plane at the other end and come into contact with heaven knows who before getting back (having caught covid?). You don't have to get off a cruise ship, and indeed I doubt you will be allowed to for the first cruises.
"Cruise lines are a long period of days/weeks in a closed confined environment with 1000s of passengers and 1000s of crew all constantly sharing the same surfaces, like handrails, door handles, lift buttons, chairs, tables, menus, cutlery and so on."
It is extremely likely after 2 jabs and a test that there would be any covid on the ship. Simple as that. If there was it would struggle to spread as all passengers would have resistance due to the 2 jabs.
In conclusion.
Cruise ships have passengers in a controlled environment. You can control who gets on board in the first place. 2 jabs and a test with the current infection level in the uk about ONLY 40 in 100,000 people to me seems very safe. I mean if you did no test and simply let on board 1000 people "off the street" the statistics say less than ONE perosn would have covid.
To me with all passengers having had 2 jabs, and tested and the odds against anyone on board having covis make the cruise ships quite safe.
All IMHO.
