How come the airlines are fairing better today? I say again25 Mar 2021 13:10
if the passengers have had the 2 jabs, and have tested negative before boarding it is extremely unlikely that anyone boarding would have covid. Obviously this can NEVER be 100%, but you have to use common sense, just like you can come back to the UK if you isiolate and have 2 tests. At some point the Government will have to make a judgement of what is or is not allowed. I think there will be rules for the airlines and rules for the passenger liners. I am of the opinion that passenger liners will be full of holiday makers before the airlines are abywhere near back to normal. If this is the case they will have the advantage being first. All IMHO.
Up 2% yesterday, now down 6%. Must say I'm surprised25 Mar 2021 12:52
maybe its to do with the EU meeting today. On the BBC yesterday it was mentioned that we might do a deal with the EU and split the production coming from the new plant in, I think the Netherlands? I don't think the EU will do much. As Boris pointed out if the Pharma Co's distributuion of vacines from their plants is affected they won't be wanting to manufacture in the EU in future. Aslo they will upset loads of other countries. All IMHO.
RE: Which will happen 1st? Holiday on cruise ship, or airplane trip24 Mar 2021 22:05
to holiday destination and return? Which is likely to be allowed 1st? Airplane journey to holiday destination. The Government say no holiday flights until at least 17th May. I don't see why people are not allowed to go abroad and back by plane to a Country with no covid.?? OK there are not many but they do exist! I can imagine that Quantas London to Australia plane being back in business if the Govenment let them. If you have a crew and passengers that have had 2 jabs and have been tested then there is no reason why Australia would not let the plane land. It's called common sense and I'm sure the Australian Government is not daft so would, upon request make that plane journey exempt from any restrictions. Also direct flights to South Korea and other covid free Countries. I think the Government need to exempt the plane routes to covid freee countries, assuming they don't already?? Looks like from 17th May holiday flights might be allowed but IMHO all who go will have to isolate and have 2 tests unpon return. Holiday on cruise ship. With the crew and passengers all having had 2 jabs and a covid test before boarding this can happen now as far as I am aware. However the ship may only be allowed to go round the UK. I expect the Cruise line Companies are pressing the Government to make the ships exempt from covid restrictions once at sea. Opening the bar will be popular I should think!! I think anyone with just one brain cell can see that covid restrictions are not needed on a ship with no covid virus. I also think the cruise line Co's will be wanting to sail to the med (can they now?) even if the passengers will not be allowed off until the return to the UK. I imagine once some island resort destinations becone covid free over the next few months or so the Cruise ships will be visiting them for obvious reasons. So my conclusion is:- Flights to covid free destinations should be allowed, although there are hardly any! Flights to just about all holiday destinations will only happen after 17th May and anyone who goes will have to isolate and have 2 tests on return. Enough to put most people off. Cruise liner holidays can happen around the UK from now? They will soon (I think) get exemption from covid rules (common sense) once at sea. Give it what.... a month? They will then be allowed to go to the med etc.. but not let anyone on or off when docked. In time some island destinations will become covid free and so the liners will be able to let the passengers off. This is why I think the cruise line Comaponies will be bck in business before the airlines. All IMHO.
O/T. CCL look cheap to me. Got some. Seems to me24 Mar 2021 16:26
Carnival with their cruise ships will be the place to go for a covid free holiday. 2 jabs and test before they will let you on board. Then it seems to me you have a ship load of covid free holiday makers........................................ Open the BAR !!!!! All IMHO.
RE: So presumably PMO may be going to 30p again??? nm24 Mar 2021 16:09
PMO's sp is moving with the price of Brent to a large extent. From memory I think the sp was 30p ish when Brent was $68? Brent is a tad under $64 now having risen frim $61.30 8am this morning. So $2.70c up.
O/T. I find it extremely interesting that India owe CNE $1.4 BILLION24 Mar 2021 15:47
AND WITH COSTS $1.7 billion. CNE (Cairn Energy) took India to the International Tribunal and won the case. Now India seem to be trying to get off the hook. CNE's market cap is only £900m. Food for thought. I'm looking for the Indian Government paying, then the sp to more than double............... All IMHO
India don't respect International arbitration decisions by the looks24 Mar 2021 11:21
so international investment there is now extreme high risk if you ask me. They really need to habve a re-think about abiding by the rulings of the Internationl Arbitration which they signed up to so investing there would be safe !!!!! Total madness. All IMHO.
A week ago brent hit $70. Now it's $62. the API report yesterday24 Mar 2021 11:05
was a modest build of oil stocks in the USA of 2.7m. We have the EIA one this afternoon. It could even be a draw on oil stocks as API and EIA often differ a lot. Maybe Brent will be visiting $65 soon. All IMHO.
RE: Suez canal blocked by massive ship running aground24 Mar 2021 11:02
How can you post this! - "Not for long. They’ll have it moved by the morning." The article says it could take days, and i think I'll believe them rather than you. LOL!
