So the German authorities have scared the *hit out of loads of people for no reason at all it seems. BRILLIANT. How to kill tens of thousands of people by putting them off having a vaccine?

On the face of it the German authorities seem to have made a monumental error which, in time will cost tens of thousands of lives when some of the 7 Billioin people in the World refure to have the vaccine. Terrible.

Not paying is NOT an option for the Indian Government. Breaking International financial law you signed up to would result in investors being unable to insure their investments, potential investment money already in India being withdrawn due to risk etc.... Presumably the Indian Government are advised by the likes of Goldman Sachs or similar who I'm sure will advise them to pay up and move on. Not paying is IMHO NOT an option.

They are defaulting on a ruling by the International Court Of Arbitration and simply have to pay or the consequences will hurt India severely and for years to come. They will pay. It's the only logical and sensible thing to do. Only a foolish Government would not!

is just about as serious as it gets. You sign up to abide by their decisions (same way Governments do what the courts rule). Then you don't follow the ruling. That means the International Arbitration courts decisions are meaningless in India. And so no investors money is covered. So insurance Co's won't insure investment in India as it is too high risk. No insurance, no investment.
Their Government need their heads examined not paying up. It makes no sense.

India are on a huge hook here. they lost an International Tribunal case. It was unanamous.
They are plating DANGEROUS games delaying payment.
They need to pay up and move on. Then investors will see they abide by the law.
If not existing investors may try to pull out and new investors will be advised to go elsewhere.
They have no choice, unless they want to pay a much larger bill down the line and ruin investment in India.

we would be closer to getting back to normal. At the moment though Italy's "R" number is back over 1 (amazing) and Brazil is in a very deep hole. The Czech Republic is similar as in very bad. France has only vaccinated 9% of the population. The USA is doing better, 30%.

The whole reason for the Arbitration board is to safeguard foreign investment so investors have confidence the investment won't be stolen or some such. This has already damaged India's reputation as a place to invest. Not paying up when the International Arbitration panel has ruled against you is like telling any investor outside India that investing there IS NOT SAFE. Frankly if the Indian Government have any sense they will pay the money and use this to assure investors throughout the World that they are fair minded and investment in India is safe. they really need to get on with it as all this negative publicity is causing untold damage to future investments. Once their assets start being seized to pay the debt there wuill be MASSIVE publicity and investment in India will dry up almost completely. Madness.
