So what for the future????7 Mar 2021 15:21
The question is when will the UK Government legaslise holidays abroad. Simple as that as they are currently ILLEGAL.
It strikes me that if, before covid the UK Government said they were banning holidays abroad the sp of EZY would be a long way South of £5, let alone £10, and by the same afternoon's trading. It would have dived like off a cliff.
Seems like we are going to clear COVID from the UK. Great, excellent news. Problem is IF another variant gets into the uk that manages to evade the antibodies set up by the current vaccine the whole nightmare could start again. That virus, if it comes, would almost certainly come from............... abroad. So the Government has an obligation to stop this, and the only way at the moment is to stop people coming here from abroad. Unfortunately this could make having had both jabs before going abroad irrrelevant as you could possibly catch a new variant and infect the whole UK even if you have had 2 jabs. It really depends on what the Government do to mitigate this. The ban on holidays will at some point be lifted, say 2 months time? Then how do we try to stop a variant coming back with a passenger, even one who has had 2 jabs? Only current answer is isolation upon return and covid tests. I see no other way at the moment. Unless technology comes to our rescue isolation on return from holiday is here to stay so frankly the future for airlines is not looking very good. I assume air fairs will increase a lot so the airlines can still stay solvent.
All IMHO.
