I know. It probably is a less severe illness, that is my guess. But that may not matter at all. If millions of people get a milder infection some will get very ill as well so to speak. A small percentage of a VERY BIG number of people is still a BIG NUMBER. The question is will the number be too much. I fear it will be as Omicrom is infection people at at rate that is just mad. There will be so many cases the small % that need hospital treatment will overwhelm the NHS I fear.

I see CNN news is finally reporting about Omicron here in the UK as a major story. About time too.
The USA news Co's have been very slow to pick up on Omicron in the UK, Borises announcemnt last night etc..
The USA and the World really need to WAKE UP to the Omicron potential. It might eclipse the first wave we had due to it's "phenominal" spread. Already 40% on London covid cases are Omicron. It's only been here about 2 weeks. That is just insane. I fear the worst here. I really hope I'm wrong. I've sold most to cash. Still have 1 tranche of BP though. Anyone staying in the market here IMHO is taking a massive, massive risk.

The negative potential for Omicron is being dangerously ignored by many people. It accounts for 40% of london Covid cases already, and as far as we know has only been here what... 2 weeks? IMHO this bug will find many of those who have NOT been jabbed, and there are easily enough of those to overwhelm the UK NHS. Unless it is a vey very mild form of the disease it is obvious, I mean OBVIOUS the UK is in BIG touble, and the World. Sorry but if you are more worried about inflation then I think you need a major, major re-think. I think we are on the brink of a disaster that will eclipse the worst wave we had. I REALLY hope I'm wrong.

Even if only a small % of these translate into hospitalisations we will be in big trouble. Also anyone with no jab trying to avoid catching covid are IMHO in grave danger. Obviously only a small amount of Omicron virus in you and it takes hold. Take a breath in near someone with omicron breathing out, maybe you'll have it. Touch a surface hours after someone with Omicron has and you may also get it. Quite terrifying.
My opinion is we will have 3 or 4 days of large falls over this. In the mean time most of my money is in the bank, not shares for pretty obvious reasons.

South Africa.
Bad news Omicron spreads astonistingly fast. In fact BBC reporting athird of caes in London are ALREADY Omicrion which is just mad.
Possible good news is cases in South Africa seem less severe. BUT they have much younger population AND very large percent of people have already had the real covid after last 3 waves. ?? so maybe the 2 jab prevents severe illness???
Bottom line seems to be Omicron will infect millions more and much faster than Delta. So the key is what % of people that get Omicron actually get hospitalised? Then we need to know how many more % are going to get it. Then the actual numbers possibly heading to hospital can be calculated which is a must know. Unfortunately even a very small % of a massive number is a big number and the UK's NHS is struggling as it is.
Short term IMHO the Govenment will need to introduce more restrictions, even just for a few weeks while we learn the facts.
And they had better get on with it, just in case. In the event Omicron DOES hospitalise a lot of people we will be in very big trouble indeed.

Stay in the market if you like. I think it is very high risk so why take the risk?
IMHO any day the market is going to throw a major wobbly and frankly anyone staying in will only have themselves to blame. IMHO of course. I should think the FTSE will fall 5 or 6% day one, 4-5% next day, stabilise 3rd day, bounce 4th day some. That is what I think is going to happen.

Agree totally. The lack of investment in looking for oil is a totally ridiculous. Politicians and the "green" brigade will send the price of oil over $100 IMHO and beyond in a few years time.
