I don't have any shares in BP as I sold out weeks ago due to Ukraine.
I'm in SQZ, HBR, CNE, none of which (I hope!) have any interests in Russia or Ukraine!
As of today I am concerned Putin's actions will already have far reaching negative repercussions for Russias economy. He's gone too far and now, once he realises a whole load of economic problems are now coming down the rails even if he calls off the war games he may actually be crazy enough to invade.
The boards of BP and Shell will without doubt be discussing their exposure to Russia now and even if this blows over in the future I should think both will put their interests in Russia up for sale in the next few years NO MATTER WHAT happens now. Of course if Putin Nationalises their interests before then they won't have anything to sell.
Really, anyone holding shares in Shell of BP needs their heads examined.

why, considering both USA and UK Governments have advised their nationals to get out of Ukraine.
Of course there is another possible answer. Western money may be selling out of BP but Eastern money may be buying in, as in Putin's mates? Just a thought.
According to todays (Saturday's) Daily Mail BP owns 20% of Rosneft. It also says "But BP and Shell are amoung the Companies working in Russia that could be affected by sanctions if Russia invades. Rosneft contributed to around 21pc of the FTSE-100 listed Company's bumper £9.4 billion profit last year. ".
Obviously the risk of holding BP or Shell shares has rocketed up and begs the question why not sell and buy other oil/gas shares that do not have interests in Russia or Ukraine. With BP up Friday on the NYSE (1%) Monday maybe the last chance to get a decent price before a potential price crash to more like £3.60.

The market is IMHO NUTS fairly often.
However this is an oppertunity to buy.
The only thing that might temporarily sink the sp is if Putin proves to his fellow Russians he has completey lost the plot and invades Ukraine. Even then IAG, who fly planes all over the World would only be temporarily affected.
Actually one more thing. A covid strain more contagious than Omicron BA.2 AND able to more affectvely evade the vaccines. Highly unlikley IMHO.
Two highly unlikley scenarios. Putin being mad, or extreme bad luck with covid..
My conclusion is it would be extreme bad luck for either. I'm talking 1000 to 1.

what about US citizens in Russia? IMHO he should tell them to get out of Russia too. All this keeping things separate is simply stupid IMHO. All about money if the USA has anything to do with it.

Similar here. I chose IAG (British airways etc.) and have bought 3 tranches, 2 at around £1.50 and one @ £1.76! Current IAG sp £1.77p. Like other airline shares dare I say they should take off! LOL! Expecting easily over £2.00 in a month or so as long as no new covid appears. I read it would have to be more contageous than Omicron BA.1 and make people sicker. I think that is a tall order. I think a more contageous strain is unlikely to make a population where 80% or so of all people have resistance sicker. Possible but IMHO highly unlikely IMHO. IMHO the odds are we won't have a covid that causes major problems for some years if at all.

I should have said and with SQZ production being 80% gas and 20% oil, all from the North sea they are in a good position.

Ukraine here I think. If they do the price of gas will be more like 8 fold normal rather than the 3-4 fold at the moment.

is the sp was over 1500p in September 2021 when things were no where near as good as they are now from what I can see. Logicallyt the sp will go higher than 1500p in th next few weeks.

The dividend and special dividend will push the sp higher IMHO. Company doing very well of course as we know from yesterdays update. Actually slightly down at the moment overall with these.
