I read Rosneft (the Russian state oil Co. BP got into bed with) attributed 20% of the profits. One fifth. So basically £4.00 / 5 = 80p. 400p, less 80p = £3.20??
I don't think the sp will go that low. I guess the sp here could be heading for £3.50, and within a few days.

I wonder if Putin just wants to make the two "rebel held" areas actually part of Russia by recognising them, then sending in the troops. Of course the Ukraine side would then be shelling Russian tropps that admit they are Russian troops, rather than Russin troops that pretend not to be!

I think the odds are Russia won't invade but why leave money in the market when you are up?
Of the shares I have nearly all are in gas/oil which seems sensible as presumably if they do invade gas and oil prices will go to just silly levels. Oil....... guess $150 a barrel, gas..... £6 a therm? Other thing is having plenty of cash one has the oppertunity to get in low during what is and will be volatile markets. I'm liable not to put that much in though.

rocket up. I found that oil has hit $147 a barrel back in 2008 but it was NOT due to war, it was due to demand out stripping supply. No one can be sure how much the oil price would increase if Russia invade Ukraine, you can only guess.
Seems to me $150 a barrel or more would not be that extreme considering the above. Anyone short here (or on any other oil Co. share) is not playing with fire, more like playing catch with a jar full of Nitroglycerin. I mean total and utter madness.
The pressure for shorts to close is extreme and anyone not closing is liable to get badly burned. Stop loss MUST be set IMHO!!!!!!!!!!!

Our Egypt investment going well, and as far as I know the oil part not hedged!!
Also we are waiting for the Indian Government to compensate us $1 bilion that they agreed to pay after we satisfied their requirements, which we did.
Looking forward to the sp spiking to, in my opinion at least to around £2.70p.

I think everyone is aware if Russia invade Ukraine there will be a big drop in just about all share values.
The ones that won't spring back will be the ones directly affected. Companies that have money invested in Russia/Ukraine, like Shell, and BP for starters. IAG do not even operate in Ukraine so one would think the sp would spring back in days. Also some drop must be already priced in as the sp was moving rapidly up and had hit £1.77 before Mr Putin's extremely unwise troop build up that has already cost his Country billions of pounds. I think it will cost it billions and billions more over the next several years, even if he withdraws the troops tomorrow. Presumably he does not care about this and the standard of living Russians have, which will be going rapidly down hill from now on. Crazy.
