Lab test, if available. If not the Gendrive machine.

Lab test. Blood draw, wait many hours if not days (when time is of the essence).

Gendrive test. No blood draw deeded. Result in about an hour. Cheaper than the lab test.

So, what will the medic do??

Only an idiot would think they will send off for a lab test.

The machine to do with babies hearing and the one to do with strokes cleared for use in the UK's National Health System for years. The one to do with hearing was partially cleared, but the stroke one (2 weeks ago) was recommended for "point of care" use in the whole NHS. This is why the Chaiman spent £31K on buying 1,000,0000 shares @ 3.1p. This is why I have over 500,000 myself. Sooner or later the sp here is going to ROCKET. They have NO MAJOR SHAREHOLDERS at the moment. SOON IMHO they will have. Big players take some days before they push the button. I'm sure they will do.

I'm half expecting more director buys. Now the "stroke" machine is cleared for use in the whole NHS I am expecting more Director buys. The market for this machine has just increased by heaven knows how much. The whole of the UK's NHS and that no doubt will massively increase uptake all over the World. The potential here cannot be understated.

Also there are pretty obvious visual signs of having this disease. Plus the countries that it is in at the moment are relatively poor. Likely diagnosis will be visual rather than any expensive test.

Things to note:-

a) Hospitals can't use it for "point of care testing" as it says if they have not bought one! So, all hospitals that have accident and emergency are advised to buy a machine. Also, they need at least one for when laboratory-based testing is not available.

b) Lab testing usually requires a blood sample. The Genedrive CYP2C19 ID Kit just needs a swab sample from inside the mouth. Next to no risk to the patient etc... Much easier to do.

c) Lab tests take many hours if not days. The machine gives the result in about an hour. The medics will want a quick answer to decide the right drug and possibly free up beds.

d) The Genedrive test is cheaper and far faster than using a lab.

e) The Chairman bought 1,000,000 shares last Wednesday.

Forward thinking to ask Angle Plc to analyse circulating tumour cells (CTC's) to see how they might help fight cancer as far as I can see. I think it is a total disgrace that more Large Pharma Companies have seemingly done next to nothing to investigate this avenue of research further. Angle's Parsortix machine offers a relatively easy way to catch live intact CTC'S. What better sample could you possibly ask for? It seems to me during a cancer drug trial if you analyse the CTC's before, during and after treatment you would get a good picture of what effect the cancer drug being tested has? OK, what in, or on the CTC's do they test? Well, the cancer drug Companies should have a clue you would have thought. Or maybe they are clueless??? I doubt it. I think they are holding back because of the cost. Total disgrace.

The Genedrive System is a point-of-care gene amplification device used for qualitative in vitro molecular diagnostic tests. The company states that the test can detect the *2, *3, *4, *8, *17 and *35 alleles. The technology consists of:

Genedrive System analyser, which is a rapid thermocycler capable of polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and isothermal-based amplification techniques.

Genedrive CYP2C19 ID Kit, which includes an assay cartridge containing reagents, a sample collection cheek swab, a transfer capillary and a collection buffer. The cartridges can be stored at room temperature. The Genedrive CYP2C19 ID Kit costs £100 (excluding VAT).

The test uses a single cheek swab to collect the sample. The company states that each cartridge takes less than 1 hour to run. The result of the test is automated. The person's diplotype (their specific pair of CYP2C19 alleles) and metaboliser status are displayed on the device. The company states that results can be transferred electronically to patient records by internet or third-party middleware, or printed with an optional label printer. External controls for all targeted alleles are available in a separate kit to check proper performance of the platform.
