Thank you for your sentiments. You are clearly wedded to L&G and that's fine. Actually if you read my message I bought PHNX on results day - 5,000 at £6.20, so making a tidy capital gain in a matter of a few days thanks to the proceeds from my worst performing shareholding in L&G. Also the dividend is comparable. I am also pleased to use my losses on L&G over the last 5 years to offset capital gains on other shares e.g RR & BAE.
You're right, I suppose I can't really blame the ex banker and foreigner Simões. After all it's the Board who appointed him, even though he had no previous experience in the insurance sector!!
I still hold a considerable number of L&G shares and hope they can turn the corner, although I fear that the next inevitable FTSE downturn from it's current highs will result in a magnified L&G's fall in share price. It's all about timing and a lot of luck.
