I'm still here my friend. Dont get too exited. We've been here before, but perhaps this is a turning point, which I would welcome. Let's wait and see how it finishes today and going forward.
More underperformance once again this morning against the FTSE, which is riding high. I do hope it doesn't drop further following the report tomorrow. But every time they announce something the share price tanks. My big worry is that a big correction in the FTSE is overdue and then this dog will inevitably go well below £2. Fingers crossed it will the be ripe for a takeover and finally put us all out of our misery.
Unfortunately I have dripped the dividends back in to buy more shares. So it's difficult to calculate. All I know is that I have a lot more shares with a much lower capital value. And again another bad week for the stock!!
In 2018 at an average price of £2.65. I retired and put some of my lump sum into L&G. Bad timing and not complaining but had resonably hoped the price would increase over time. My worst performing stock to date. As I mentioned before, we don't live forever and need to sell at some point or give it to the kids. He ho!
A other bad week for L&G. I wouldn't advise waiting a few years. I have waited 6 years now and this dog has dropped significantly in that time, while the FTSE is at all time highs. Insurance is a bad bet. Perhaps you don't remember the debacle of endowment policies that didn't deliver to long suffering house buyers over 25 years. Better to invest in companies with better capital and dividend growth. DYOR.

Phyl
I agree that nobody knows what the share price will do on 4th Dec. I do hope it does recover, but looking at the stats for the last 5 years - on reporting days the share price dropped on almost all occasions. Fingers crossed this time it will buck the trend.

Oh dear, another probable big drop in the share price on 4th Dec. Also, looks like we are heading for another lamentable week in the share price with L&G and the banks badly lagging behind the FTSE. Bah humbug!
Not forgetting that the taxman/woman gets 8.75% basic rate and 33.75% higher rate on dividends paid. This can make a big difference, assuming you do declare.
Cpt H - Sorry to disagree. The share price is a key measure of the health and value of a company, together with dividend increases. We don't live forever and therefore must sell at some point. Some of us sooner rather than later. CEO's and directors performance is directly linked to share price. Look what happened to Stphn Brd at ABRDN! As per my previous posts the L&G's share price has underperformed badly against the FTSE over the last 5 years. The stats speak for themselves.
Ha ha. Axing jobs and Barclays target price hasn't done anything for the share price. Once again underperforming the FTSE. Another poor start to the week!! Same as it ever was.
Eccles04. I do admire your optimism. But this share is not cyclical stock. It has been in steady decline for over 5 years whilst the FTSE has been riding high. Yes in 6 months or so the dividend will be paid before tax and of course the share price will again drop accordingly. However the share price usually tanks before that when the March full year results are out.
Yes, not forgetting that, along with the lower tax threshold on dividends, the share price usually drops by more than the dividend for this dog on ex-dividend days. Wish I hadn't sold my RR and MKS shares!!
