Nothing or something21 Sep 2025 20:26
By chance I was at a recent public meeting of the Bruge group and the guest speaker was Dr John Bolton ex UN Ambassador and ex security advisor to Trump and others. OF course was he not talking specifically about FRR nor indeed Georgia directly (I suspect he is still very much in the Trump loop still as he is a very serious player) As with all diplomatic people they can talk in double speak! but this is what I took away from both his lecture and a brief chat over a glass of wine. As an over all subject is was the geopolitical problems from uncle sams point of view. They is an expectation that countries which want uncle sams support MUST A) remain sovereign and must go further on that journey - hiding behind bodies such as EU. WHO, UN even NATO is simply not on as it complicates things. Bi lateral agreements are the only way to go. Increasing democracy must be a permanent effort ( this includes This UK !) Efforts must be made by all countries to be self sufficient . If this takes place Uncle sam will support and invest/protect nation status where there is advantage in creating stability from a US point of view. All US Ambassadors have made this clear to all hosting nations, His advice to the audience was to not always focus on any individual method used as this is always short termish and unique to each country so buying assets in the Ukraine for instance along with the inward investment that goes with it. helps keep Putin away and in his box as he would not dare attack US assets. If that fails Boulton's answered was straight forward ---- F16's ---- and I know as I planned it! You just have to wait for the right moment. The fist question I ask my self is just how important is Georgia to Uncle Sams desire for stability and peace in the area from a geopolitical point of view ? If the answer is it is important then could we be a part of the huge investment available from Uncle Sam or US Companies. Lastly unlike most Countries Trump has proved he can and does Act very fast at times the normal rules within diplomacy is delay not act fast. Question is is SN in favour with Trump ? NO comments about Trump Please this is not the place for it and this is a very short version of a detailed lecture
