The recently identified, globally predominant SARS-CoV-2 Omicron variant (BA.1) is highly transmissible, even in fully vaccinated individuals, and causes attenuated disease compared with other major viral variants recognized to date1–7. The Omicron spike (S) protein, with an unusually large number of mutations, is considered the major driver of these phenotypes3,8. We generated chimeric recombinant SARS-CoV-2 encoding the S gene of Omicron in the backbone of an ancestral SARS-CoV-2 isolate and compared this virus with the naturally circulating Omicron variant. The Omicron S-bearing virus robustly escapes vaccine-induced humoral immunity, mainly due to mutations in the receptor-binding motif (RBM), yet unlike naturally occurring Omicron, efficiently replicates in cell lines and primary-like distal lung cells. In K18-hACE2 mice, while Omicron causes mild, non-fatal infection, the Omicron S-carrying virus inflicts severe disease with a mortality rate of 80%. This indicates that while the vaccine escape of Omicron is defined by mutations in S, major determinants of viral pathogenicity reside outside of S.

Research indicates that some people may be more genetically susceptible to the effects of aminoglycosides.

Genetic susceptibility to aminoglycoside ototoxicity
Introduction: Aminoglycosides are a well-known clinically relevant antibiotic family used to treat bacterial infections in humans and animals and can produce toxic side effects. Aminoglycoside-induced hearing loss (HL) has been shown to have a genetic susceptibility. Mitochondrial DNA mutations have been implicated in inherited and acquired hearing impairment.

Mitochondrial 12s rRNA mutation A1555G was present in American, Chinese, Arab-Israeli, Spanish and Mongolian ethnicities. All mutations leading to aminoglycoside ototoxicity were mitochondrial mutations.

Conclusions: Consideration of preexisting genetic defects may be valuable in treatments involving aminoglycosides. In particular populations such as those of Chinese origin, clinicians should continue to consider the increased susceptibility to aminoglycosides.

NICU babies often receive aminoglycosides

Of particular concern are infants in neonatal intensive care units (NICU). Eighty percent of all infants admitted to the NICU receive aminoglycosides; that means each year 480,000 babies are at risk.

The rate of hearing loss in babies who have been in the NICU is significantly higher than that of the general infant population, at 2 to 4 percent. In comparison, the rate of hearing loss in full-term infants from congenital causes is just 0.1 to 0.3 percent.

Aminoglycosides were developed almost 60 years ago. Though alternatives have been developed, aminoglycosides are still used because they are effective, inexpensive and shelf stable.

Which antibiotics can cause hearing loss?
Some common aminoglycosides that are capable of damaging hearing are:

Streptomycin
Neomycin
Amikacin (Amikin)
Gentamicin (Garamycin)
Kanamycin (Kantrex)
Paromomycin (Humatin)
Tobramycin (Tobi)
Vancomycin (not technically an aminoglycoside, but still linked to temporary mild hearing loss)
Unfortunately, with the super powers of aminoglycosides comes a downside: They can also damage the sensory cells in the inner ear that detect sound and motion. This is known as ototoxicity and can lead to permanent sensorineural hearing loss

Chopsing I think it's fair to say that QBT's sp has stood up better than ARB's. If they deliver meaningful results I'll be ready to get back in but it's been over a year since they RNS'd about the Asic UltraBoost without further advancement news which was my main reason for stepping away.
I'd have another go with Argo along the lines mentioned by Chaibol but I think we will see new entrants in the space, picking up bankrupt miners, ops etc without the debt baggage and overheads the current bunch have managed to get themselves into.

I did ramp QBT and I let the board know I had greatly reduced my position and shared my reasons.
