In the mid 70's I was taking home £70 per week. That would buy me 210 pints or 200 packs of ciggies. My reason for working was so I could put petrol in the Escort go out n drink.. chase girlies..
Here we are 50 years later £5 a pint and ciggies should I choose to smoke.. £10.00 a pack??
I am not taking home 210 x £5 = £1050 or 200 x £10.00 £2000, per week..
No wonder the kids sit around gazing at their phones coz they can't afford to have the social life that I, dare I say, we did.. and what happened.. the pubs closed.
If the price of a pint had gone up to a £1.50 in the mid 70's would I consider it worth working!
I am often critised for excessive tipping giving the barmaid or barman a tenner or more after being served a couple of times..
