Will oil fall to $40: doubtful. The west would love it, an immediate inflation buster, but a problem for US shale and Saudi cannot afford this to fund the country, infrastructure, football teams etc. Covid was something else; a soft or even hard landing now/soon softens demand, but in reality only slightly.

However, the board may be confident in themselves, but I don't see a lot of confidence in them, certainly not on this board. Maybe they should go before an appointment is made. Auchincloss is good enough as caretaker and yes, maybe he will be OK with a good mentor like Bob D.

I am doubtful about interest rates having an impact at all at this point.

It was oversold as if it would collapse, which clearly is not the case. They are back fighting with a vengeance !!

Annual resuls will be a disaster in my view (baked in and more), but I think the new plan will carry more weight that the past failures, so could well continue to move up. The potential for this business is enormous.

DB still saying 485 target, so why the fall? Whatever they say, the business is doing really well and the peak or near peak inflation will drive this share up next year as interest on cash comes down - even without any spectacular new things going on. Simple maths really. Same for a lot of other solid dividend payers. Not sure about VOD, strange outfit TBC.

BadA/FD: I think your criticism is entirely fair. Busy or not busy, investor comms are important.

The non execs are doing very little apart from oversight of strategy and its implemenation etc. That's normal. I can only assume they are content that the execs indeed are working hard. They have more insights than any of us, but should really flag up the comms issue to be fair. I would.

BadA, I kind off agree, but also understand they are super busy with both monetisation negotiations and planning for 2 drills. It's a small team. However, if they emerge on the other side with no deal, then I will be rather grumpy (to put it in polite terms). For now, holding on to whatever I have, I believe in the value of the assets. Added a little bit recently. I'm amazed anybody would want to part with shares at this price, but that's OK with me.

Theaky, I don't have the answers, I am not involved in any shape or form. I know the Egon Zehnder process though and they will scout the market using their network, carry out a lot of interviews and assessments their end before putting a shortlist forward (you will almost certainly never see a job ad in public domain). The shortlist will probably be put forward to the board or a sub-committee of the board. Therein lies the issue, potentially a big issue. The only hope we have is from large shareholder pressure.

Many articles are starting to question whether the board should be changed. The jolly should be closed down.

Has anybody seen any further updates? Fugro Quest left the Netherlands a couple of days ago, but not really sure what it is up to/where it is? Should have been in action yesterday according to the Kingfisher update on 10 Nov.

Wrt brokers: just look at the current ratings. Just shows you how out of touch many of them are! Now they will follow the price up and revise up, but on what analytical basis. What is this their models show now vs a month ago :-)

China sitiuation: someone got greedy and forgot pay the party. It will be resolved, eventually. They have the capacity for sure if they want to fix it. Some of these outfits may be brought under the wings of the state.

I kind of agree with those expressing the view that it is dumb to buy other outfits when you can buy back your own at a low price.

I think the counterargument is that the investment bank is too dominant and clearly Barc makes good money from the retails side, wheras investment banking is more cyclical.

For me the most important thing is for them to come clean on a strategy and crucially: a proper plan, not just saying they have consultants around and it is going to costs xxx millions. We need the upside as well.
