Ivor balanced views are not made by assuming! I have employed up to seven in the past and I know the feeling that some can be lazy. Finding the right fit isn't easy and there is a balance that goes with the incentives. I just can't go along with your assumption that quality people aren't there to be had. However I understand a bit frustrating for you to find someone on 28k leaves like that but tbh if the benefit systems provides a better lifestyle for them than the 28k you give then we know where the problem lies and it's not your wage or his laziness. Anyway enough said hope you find a suitable replacement, have a happy and prosperous new year

David told us last week it would be about a week for logging but I guess the completion will take a little while and we have new year in between so I guess first full week of new year

How about people who are making life dependent logistical decisions about health care on 8.08 just two years ago. Would you class those as skilled? Maybe not engineers but high level responsibility for peanuts and there are many other equally undervalued jobs out there. You also seem to be mocking the role of courier who are often forced to be driving illegally for up to fourteen hours a day. May not be highly skilled but where would business be without them. Many of them are abused and the nature of the business means if they refuse to do the illegal hours they are fired. I run by the view if you pay peanuts you get monkeys. Good people don't want to work for peanuts, there needs to be motivation

Ivor, not wishing to cause an argument but I disagree totally about the quality of people and I lay the blame firmly in the court of big business and as shareholders we have to take some responsibility for that too.

When skilled workers are being fobbed off with barely minimum wage there is something out of balance in society. What is the point in getting yourself trained to a high level for little reward? When people see the Bods taking higher rewards for basically stripping costs rather than improving productivity moral is understandably at an all time low and with people have gone so long without a decent wage rise they have forgotten what one is so any incentive for hard work has disappeared as more and more people are being dragged to a lower standard of life.

There is little left to spend for many after extortionate rents and housing costs as can be seen by the retail and entertainment sector crumbling which is not imo solely down to the internet.

The trend of gaining extra profit by reducing costs can only go so far and once the skilled workforce have gone where does business go?

The Skol was originally mixed by the lads on the tanker bay and it spread to the social club. As understand it the lab boys set to work to create it. They didn't make the export for very long maybe it was just too strong but it sold very well in the brewery shop As for Guinness mix, cider was the the preferred addition named a snakebite. Didn't like it myself wasn't keen on Guinness back then. Oh well, time to crack a can I think :0)). Happy Christmas

TPDC MD has told me overnight that the licence is now being checked by the regulator. It appears now TPDC have done every they need to do.

I hope so VS. Talking of drinks to blow your head off. When younger we used to put a Gold Label or Triple A (barley wine) into 5% Skol special strength. Now that did create a boom :0)) This was a favoured drink mixed by the lads at the brewery where I did my apprenticeship. It was so good management took it up and created Skol Special Export. If I remember right they weren't able to sell it here either because of strength or high taxation, not sure which but happy days for sure.
