MrChow69, sorry to hear about your friend and really wish the AVCT LFD could be made available to see if a mutation is detected. The antibody tests as you suggest would not detect the mutation. Maybe he/she is in a hospital for samples to go for LFD validation as they are done in parallel with approved antibody tests.

Travel_light- That is the idiocy of the gold standard. A cheap test which AVCT could have knocked out would isolate infectious and their contacts at affordable world roll out rates. I hope AVCT have a cheap version in the pipeline because all this perfection is rubbish as will soon be proved when the gold standard, with verifiers in attendance maybe, is rolled out. The gold standard will just prove that the gold stsandard was not necessary it is isolating the infectious that gets the R rate down.

It makes sense to assume a positive if you have gone for a test for a good reason then dodged it-what did they think would happen. Lots of problems with control/logistics in swab tests. Won't need to wait when the AVCT test is ready.
