None of your posts are related to Lloyds this is a Banking forum jog on this isn't Facebook
Then I am in good company with several other forum members, including yourself. A number of your posts are not related to LBG either.
I know there are those here that **** off the NHS but I have nothing but praise for the way they treated me for my prostate cancer. I had my second template biopsy late October then had that important consultation to discuss options two weeks later and offered the op to have it removed in December which I declined, just didn’t want to have a Christmas feeling a bit run down etc.
I have just had a call today to say I am now booked in this Saturday for the op. I have nothing negative to say about the care and attention they have given me and feel they are doing a great job.

The royal family gave up all of the income from the royal estate which instead goes into the countries coffers.
The sovereign grant is far less than the income generated from the royal estate.
The Crown Estate was handed over to the government in 1760 in exchange for what we know as the Civil List or as called now the Sovereign Grant. The income is based on 15% of the previous two years income from the Crown Estate income, the balance goes to the current government as an income. At the moment the 15% has temporarily been increased to 25% until repairs on Buckingham House are complete.
So yes, the Government does indeed make a handsome profit. Then the country makes additional profit from tourism so everyone wins, don’t they?

when has a Tory ever admitted fault, taken responsibility, or changed their views about anything in the history of mankind?
Did Blair ever own up to killing hundreds of servicemen in a war that he had no right to enter into and was built upon false information?

My point is leaving has created a mess in many areas, all areas in fact. They need addressing, some by far better relations with the EU.
If by better relations means rejoining then as you say we made a mess of coming out so as things stand we would make a mess going back in, so in reality we are probably better off where we are now and improving our lot as best we can.

Not sure enjoy is the right word, but yes people will discuss the issues left over from Brexit since they are adversely impacting every economic sector of the UK, including, very directly, financial services.
If we went back into the EU do you believe that they will let the city of London operate exactly the same as before Brexit? I suspect they will force a situation where Frankfurt and Paris will be the only two financial hubs.

Rishi, save our soul cancel Brexit
Bring in the people
Having left I have concerns on what the terms we would be going back in with, they certainly won’t be the same before we left.
To start we would have to adopt the Euro, Blair and Brown if I remember decided to keep the Pound, so they must have seen the advantage of doing so, not my area of expertise to remember why now.
With regards to the City I wouldn’t be surprised if part of a new deal would be to dismantle London and spread it amongst the chosen few.
No opt outs, higher contributions would be part of any deal, etc, etc.
Then I can see a host of other agreements that would put us in a possible worse case than we are in now.
Leaving was not right but going back in scares me more than opting out.
I found this website and wished I hadn’t. Any thoughts anyone?

No need for new hospitals. Whatever you want, somewhere in the world will sort it just send the NHS the bill.
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/health/article-11461841/NHS-pay-women-wanting-*****-undergo-surgery-ABROAD-campaigners-say.html
From my perspective these operations are not life threatening, these are what I call cosmetic surgery that the individuals want for personal reasons. If it is so important to these people ÂŁ21,000 can be covered by a loan.
At a rough guess this will cost us the tax payer somewhere about ÂŁ42M. This can cover a lot of operations for people that have real needs like cancer or debilitating conditions. As an example I have two friends where one needed to have his prostate removed but the waiting time was excessive so he paid to go private, another had a knee operation which he paid to go privately because of NHS issues.
As I mentioned in the past, the NHS needs to go back to its grass roots for people that need real care for prolonging life.

The main problem is having an idea as to what is the Uk going to look like in say 5 yrs time.
For the NHS this is particularly challenging. Ageing population, growing population advances in medical technology, staffing recruitment/ retention, litigation costs, new builds etc...overall cost pressures.
The armed forces can basically dovetail into what NATO deems necessary. We have seen the direction of travel with weapons in this conflict and the problems.. Too many types of the same kit for start. ( training , spares, lack of interchangeability of munitions etc.
No one can predict that far ahead where any country will likely be sitting. At the beginning of 2020 you could have said the next five years may have been a bit choppy due to Brexit but interest rates would be roughly the same and there should be improvements in certain areas. But then Covid threw a curve ball, buggers things up but that is life. Ukraine throws another curve ball in which some might have been seen but not by everyone and that just screwed everyone in the UK and Europe up totally. So what is third curve ball looming, China? Where will that put everyone then?
NHS is a mess as we all know. It basically wants dismantling from what it is now and rebuilding. Perhaps it needs to get back to grass roots as being a health system and not for procedures and treatments that are not life changing. If people wish to have these treatments then they should pay to have them privately. How much admin do we need in the NHS, there has to be a layer at least of admin that can be stripped out now. IT should help but the right platforms are not there to make it work smoothly, it is all clunky and inefficient. As to staff I have always believed that we should train people here in the UK but I seem to remember that you need a degree to become a nurse, I will happily stand to be corrected if this is wrong. We have many young people that will shine in nursing but we put barriers up for them. Vocational training to me is the way forward starting as an apprentice and developing from this point. The answer is not simply to keep throwing money at it. All these people that continue to spout the ÂŁ350M needed due to Brexit do not understand bad management and corruption in the NHS is not just by this Government but the previous one as well.
The armed forces is a tough one, we haven’t really been in a real escalating war since 1939. In war you see large step changes of innovation and development as most of us should know about. We can see in the past we went from horse to mechanised vehicles to large battleships to planes to rockets and ended up with atomic weapons. All large step change improvements. Now the way forward seems to be multi role drones. What is next? Have we as a country invested in drones , probably not to the level that we should have, but then if life is cosy and you don’t see what is around the corner why should you.

Dorfan.
which sector do /did you work in... Just to give an idea of your knowledge scope.
I guess it would be interesting to know your skill sets and background that you work or did work in, care to share that information as well?
My work skill sets has no bearing on other knowledge acquired but I will say we are looking at a global IT sector in software development if that helps and not at the bottom of the food chain if that is what you are thinking.

The bottom line is we need to upskill our work force ...
The top line is Parlaiment is no longer fit for purpose.
Which work areas need upskilling and why? What has happened to these people that have dropped behind and why?
Show me a Government in the past that was fit for purpose. Don’t just say x or y, demonstrate with examples on how they achieved in your eyes being fit for purpose.
Theo
The answers surround us already.
Look around the globe and cherry pick the best ideas and if necessary tweak them. We don't need to reinvent the wheel.
Which tells me you have zero ideas on how to fix any of the issues you have raised. It is easy to criticise but it takes an understanding mind/vision to correct it and tell everyone about it.
Theo,
Where do you want to start?
Refugees, energy, tax, NHS, Education, armed forces, Brexit, Cars , policing, legal system, infrastructure etc etc...
Be easiest to list what they have got right.. List below...
You are doing it again, just listing issues but not giving your solution on how to fix them compared to what the government is currently doing. Give us some details on what needs to be done and how you are going to achieve them and where the funding is coming from.
Can’t
No.1 problem:- Landlords should not exist for Uk’s indigenous working people, who have the right to home ownership. Gov failed them all in rentals.
OK, I am going to play the neutral card here and ask why is it the government’s fault? What is stopping those people renting to own a home? Are the barriers part due to the people themselves and/or the lenders?
Like I said before, if you want to be negative then give the reasons and what could be done to improve the situation. We can all be negative at a high level with drilling down into the detail.
Theo
Without doubt the expanding war in Ukraine is the biggest problem facing the West, followed some way behind by our own Govts ill thought through policies...
And which policies are you highlighting……….
So, with the response below identifying all the errors of going forward can you tell us what they should have done instead. I don’t mind people being negative but at the same time they should offer a better solution so we can discuss that as well for closing the black hole deficit.
And by cutting allowances and raising taxes, they are cutting more veins of support to the economy, and diverting it to there own pot to cover up more of there bad judgment and corrupt mistakes, enjoy your day.
