Give it chance... it's very early days for most of them!

For me personally, there's no point trying to trade this. When the SP is 6.5-8p and the like... so I sell at 6.5p (I doubt I'd get inside the spread with my number of shares), the SP would have to fall to say 4.5-6p... wow, I make 10% ish. For that minimal return, the risk of being out the market, and being the unlucky bu99er I am, would mean some positive curveball event occurs that no one seen coming and I miss out on a rerate.

I'm sure there's other LTHs who haven't been able to top up, so the value of their holdings is also probably so minimal as to make it pointless. No, the time to have traded this was months ago, but it is what it is. Well done to those that did. I've accepted this is a long term hold and am giving my other holdings more attention for the time being.

Sageman - WAG Payment Solutions showing as the smallest constituent in the FTSE250... £650m market cap. About 60p for MATD? So yes, a bit to go yet!

Ojay - so we need to park our conversation debating/postulation on potential future dividends, but it's OK for people to spout off LP= "15p, 26p, 58p don't miss out, buy while you can!" ad nauseum, and you'll defend them for it?!

Dividends really would open the door for funds. Many have it as part of their investment process that any stocks they have need to be paying dividends, never mind just the focused 'income' funds.

Anyway, would be nice just to break the recent 7p highs for now!

WOS - I can’t see dividends being paid for a long time. I’d imagine MB would want plenty of cash in the reserves to ensure financial stability for years to come, as well as financing other drills.

That might be true. But you’ve missed the point, which is that if a large II or the like want to build a sizeable position, it is possible to do that in the secondary market.

Hi all, I check the AGL share price now and again as I have an acquaintance who has held these shares over the very long term. I was surprised to see the SP down from north of £1 seemingly not so long ago, to circa 10p now…

Wondering if these are worth a punt but can anyone bring me up to speed as to why the big fall, or point me in the direction of some good info on it?

Are you sure? Polygon/TFG managed to build a stake all the way up to 28% for SNG on the open market.

Bit early still to read too much into it... just one so far. If we can start actually producing oil, then I think you'll see more come in.

Bigbench - That'll be me. Thought long and hard but true to my word, I said if it "inexplicably" fell back into the 4's after LP approval that I'd consider another top up. I can't see me going beyond this now as it's a big enough chunk of my overall portfolio.

Rationale:

- I'm happy this has been de-risked with cabinet signing off on the LP, and that the local agencies won't or can't now stand in the way.

- Bad news of V1 (which I always expected to be a duster) is out of the way and I think there's value now here.

- Possible raise down the line? Very possibly, but not for a little while I'm guessing, and by which point I'd hope to see the SP north of 4p.

- I think MATD have their fingers in other pies that we don't yet know the details of (IOM, new company formed etc) and that they'll be more good news ahead than bad.

- Gervais Williams/Miton UK Microcap holding a chunk of shares. This guy is no mug and also called TXP correct.

I don't think that's realistic, as things stand today.

I'd be delighted with 15p right now! But I get the impression more is going on in the background than we know, so perhaps it is worth more.

Miton UK Microcap Trust (MINI.LN), run by Gervais Williams, hold exactly 24m shares or 2.12% of the company.

Petrovis are obviously way out as the largest holder with 221,937,203 shares or 19.57%.

MB holds 11,600,933 shares or 1.02%.

These are the top 3 largest holders on the register shown on Bloomberg currently. I'm not sure exactly how up to date it is.

Silverknight - feasible they could cut the dividend. But quite often when a company cuts its dividend the share price recovers and goes up considerably. I recall something similar with Aviva many years back… they were under pressure to cut their dividend but were wary because they were seen as a bit of a divi hero. They ended up cutting the divi and the market liked it, the share price subsequently rising significantly.

I’m sure most of us here would be happy for the dividend to be cut, even if it’s 25-50%, if the SP then rises 50% over the following weeks/months!
