Further to my post below, the negotiations with DQE really do need to happen ASAP, as per the RNS stating that DQE will likely be busy from Q3 onwards, i.e. potentially July onwards (next month!).

I expect PetroChina to rinse us in negotiations, as where else will all this oil go until the refinery is completed? But I agree, just get it sorted for now and hopefully don’t lock ourselves into some long term, crappy agreement with PC.

Cyber, that’s nonsense. These discussions with DQE have been going on for literally YEARS. I get DQE might have wanted to wait for MATD to get the LP before signing anything, but I would expect an agreement to happen very soon, i.e. next couple of weeks. If not, I will be very concerned that DQE are wasting our time and we should then look elsewhere. Even better, I hope we’ve looked into alternatives to DQE already, just in case. If nothing else, MB is experienced and with everything else that has gone against us, I’d expect him to have done just this.

PJ has been taking a leaf out of Tray’s book! And to think GMET actually hit 22p yesterday. At this rate, it’s plausible that everything other than GMET in the POW portfolio will effectively be for free. It’s why I’m continuing to build up my own holding here.

Cannot be ruled out. I’d like to ask MB what the backup plan is if DQE/PC are awkward. In any case, it would be good to have a plan B and alternative, even to help with negotiations.

Bigbench, I know you typically ramp, but nothing is ever certain or that simple. I’d like to think it will be much higher but we’re not there yet and, while I’m much more positive following the RNS, there’s a few more hurdles to jump I reckon.

You’re right, Sol. And if day trading, GMET and the like are the places to be. Long term, POW should win out.

If there is no tangible update/progress announced at or before the AGM, I’ll be voting against reappointing the lot of them. The only acceptable reason for lack of comms is if they are constrained by some sort of NDA or the like.

Investor33 - I get all that. But you are also more or less confirming that talk of a “BOOM” to 10-15p are unrealistic. Which I also agree with!

Investor33, you make it sound awfully simple! I'm not denying their are algo bots at play, but equally if the news is so good, it entices investors in and, ultimately, more buys than sells in a short space of time and where it creates a dearth of available stock, will push the SP far north. That just hasn't happened here (as I write, we're in danger of dropping back into the 3's!) and I think it is primarily (but not solely) down to the many false dawns we have had in recent years.

As said yesterday, this clearly needs regular positive news flow to push this on. Other than outright corruption, my own concern is DQE/PC. Others have countered with some plausible reasons why I shouldn't be concerned. MB, how about at least a Proactive or LSE interview. So many false dawns here, some investors will want to see an actual barrel of Heron oil before they buy in.

Cottill - I checked the Bloomberg terminal earlier but it was only valid to 29th Feb for some reason.

I’ve also just checked on Empire’s own website (link below) that has all significant holders but again it doesn’t show how up to date it is. Obviously the likes of AJ Bell and Hargreaves Lansdown are just PI’s.
