Nice to see gunto - it's the oldest scientific magazine in the US. (1848 counts as old over there ! The Royal Society's mag Philosophical Transactions, of course began in 1665 - presumably with an account of the Black Death, which is rather fitting to our current preoccupations. )

Not to quibble too much but the text at the bottom of the page makes clear it is paid for as was the discussion itself.

There's a balance to be found here. In the last 12 months Synairgen has produced a lot of decent data in relation to P3, COPD and LC - which of course it should have done (and could have produced the COPD data very much earlier) The key thing is that the data was good and gave us all continued hope for the future of the drug if not the company. It also seems to have made one or two good connections in the States, with Rick Bright foremost of these
Against this is the unarguable fact that (as far as we know today ) it hasn't found the new P3 trial to confirm Sprinter - or anything else material in regard to its other ambitions. Richard Marsden agreed this was the main focus at the AGM - a trial not necessarily for Covid but ambitiously - for everything. The whole shooting match. Before winter's end. But a year on he hasn't (afawk) succeeded in this aim.
The data still seems to us to make a compelling case and NIH's trialing wheels are turning much more slowly as the pandemic subsides so it may just be that we need to keep faith and wait - in fact that's all we can do - with the usual odd little bits of interest from the new job ad - and if you're feeling really bullish the prospect of Philip Monk, our great orator and communicator, standing up once more to put the case at another conference.
So there are shreds & tendrils to keep people interested and a very solid body of science behind the drug's safety and efficay, but there's also an acceptable level of frustration amongst very well respected shareholders on this bb anyway that we are due and owed a major update. That must be where we are. If the anniversary slides past and we head into spring with no substantial news or communication, then we will be in a very bad place.
For now we should banish the word "zealots" renaming those individuals as "enthusiasts" - and equally discard the word "troll" and replace it with words that do not equate every discouraged or questioning poster with the genuine monsters who lurk in the shadows.
I will no longer engage with the prinipal "enthusiast "- as my offering in the rapprochement that we need in the next few difficult weeks. If he continues to counter every single "questioning" poster with negativity, those words will pass me by as the idle wind.

gunto - yes Stacey said exactly this at the Grand Rounds - that they envisaged STRIVE as effectively the main platform - like ACTIV was for Covid - but ultimately welcoming many new trialists for different conditions. Each trialist requiring its own protocol will slow everything down but it's highly specific.
Many think this is cloud cuckoo land but we are still one of the few candidates that fit the criteria - and the only one that already has very good Covid inpatient data.

You're pathetic Tommy. My point all along was that failing an inpatient Covid study - as either you or Brand snidely suggested - would have no impact on it's use as the first line treatment in newly diagnosed hospital patients. If I said EUA then I apologise ( to the bb - not you) but it amounts to exactly the same thing if they reference the Epic HR outpatient trial on which the clinical guidance is based and it's the first drug they use.
Paxlovid has saved countless lives since late 2021 despite being under-prescribed everywhere it's authorised - but you turn your mouth down and hiss because it's not SNG.

Sticking with Pfizer though - I see the NYT is suing the EU for its failure to release the text conversations held between Ursula von der Leyen and Albert Bourla as the EU spent $1.8 billion on the Pfizer vax.
Bild took a similar route over missing comms for the same deal but with only partial success.

Tommy you were just wrong. Paxlovid is EUAd for outpatients 5-6 days and has an EUA for NEW in-hospital cases - which would by definition be within this early onset window. So you were just wrong to infer that the failure of a trial with patients already in hospital for Covid (and by most definitions out of the delivery window ) brought into question the hospital EUA.

I'm genuinely supportive of paxlovid - as it's almost the last man standing and may have saved my mum's life. It's been attacked relentlessly on here - particualrly all the scare stories after its first EUA and most recently completely erroneously when Brand/Tommy (indistinguishable ) said the failure of an inpatient study should bring into question its EUA for hospital cases.

And since we're on the topic - here's a new study published a week ago - confirming that it worked really well against BA4 and 5 - which came along after its December 2021 authorisation and still added extra protection to vaxed and boosted patients.

We could have had the same. If a big pharma connection had been made after SG016 we'd have been EUAd in hospitals long since - but they wanted all the money for themselves.

You are wrong that the anniversary is insignificant. One Feb 21st the value of the company will properly reflect last year's disaster. Everyone else can see that. Whether something happens immediately after this date or not is immaterial. It's a huge and literal devaluation and it happens in 6 days time.

Fruits this is delusional in the extreme " when the the CROI 23 embargo is lifted, the company will be free to publish and eulogise and shout from the rooftops about those findings. " We;'ve had this narrative so many times - usually espoused most enthusiastically by Mani - bizarrely enough - that we need to keep patiencefor just 1 more week - wait for the next conference - the next embargo to be lifted - and for the clouds to part and a choir of celestial angels to sing.

Whatever Synairgen presents will have no bearing on the company's present or future prospects. We know the drug passed the Activ P2 - but we know why the trial was discontinued. Nobody was getting sick enough to justify expensive outpatient trials without specific targeting. SNG's data was insufficient and its outpatient profiling not strong enough to merit the EUA that Paxlovid was able to secure after huge trials and post trailing analysis which identified the "statistical granularity " of its target cohort.

You're attacked predictably by the usual couple of candidates who refuse to acknowledge the genuine concerns expressed by many well respected LTH's on here, but the days when they were able to administer a collective punishment beating are long gone. These are dark days and at the end of a very long and difficult year for the company and shareholders alike ( although more for us frankly ) to request a proper update exactly a year after the disaster of Sprinter is perfectly reasonable. And finally to confirm that RM was overly optimistic when he said - all those months ago in the warm supportive bubble of that so optimistic AGM - that SNG001 would be dosing patients this winter.

TommyD still thinks in terms of long out of date brokers notes, and imagines that the few remaining zealouts who own shares - a dwindling subspecies on this bb at least - have any say in any of what happens next or might be able to hold out for the fair value they expected when they bought their shares. "Impatience is the enemy of success." that's a genuine lol Fruits. We've all been tremendously patient - most of us for years. The drug's discovers have put in 20 years of patience waiting for the thing to get through a trial and get to market. It fits well with RM's equally derisory comment that "it's difficult to run trials during a pandemic " ( remembering that the pandemic delivered millions of in and out patients for the specific therapeutic he was trialing )

The anniversary is relevant - despite what Td says - as we know it's the point at which TFG can start manouevering - or complete any exisiting plans for an exit at a vastly reduced rate. We don't know what their average is but most think it's now well below £1. I agree with Paladin that circa 70p might be the best we can hope for. A JV from here is an impossibility as I've stated many times. The only meaningful JV that could happen from here is with a major pharma that wants to either complete the Covid P3 - which should still be relatively straightforward with the right trial design.
( There being no major change in SoC drugs in hospitals since June 2020 when Dexa was added ) or go after the bigger prize of the multi-virus trial for every respiratory infecton. As is self evident no major pharma would engage on either of these expensive endeavours in partnership with a company and product it could own for a max of £200m - and a more realistic price of £100- £150m

RM and co lost control of their future on Feb 21st 2022 - and as far as we can see have not been able to convince anyone to take the project forward, but we might see fast action in a week's time that puts us all out of our misery.
STRIVE is still the only possible saviour, but with every day that passes it's looking increasingly unlikely that we're on it.
Lots of could woulda shoulda with this company but they really should have partnered up with BP after SG016 - it's what the small co discoverers of monoclonals all did and they all retained full ownership as their drugs went through the final trials and went onstream.
