Have to say i thought they'd uploaded the wrong slidedeck this morning - when you see Obama and 2015 and those terrible little drawings and think wtf has all this got to do with SNG in 2023 and then realise they've dumped "Not all viruses are the same" in favour of "One size does not fit all."

Must be fun for the boys and girls in the hall. Listening to SSH and PM explain " hey - one size doesn't fit all ! " as if they've unearthed a heretofore hidden medical science truth. Saying what we've all know since the deep dive and before, that SNG001 might eventually work for a small and targeted patient population.

Not anytime after midnight tomorrow but this winter - which as Fruits will tell you stretches all the way to March 20th 2024.

Have to hope the q & a delivers more than this but I doubt there is any more to reveal.

It's not guesswork - it's a ballpark figure of the company's value right now - based only on sp, so an undervaluation - but nontheless - chump change for the big boys who have huge M&A departments searching every day for ugly little P2 ducklings that might become swans.

This board was reassured greatly after last year's AGM. The optimism almost entirely based on RM's confidence of a winter trial - which of course turned out to be cruelly misplaced, but bought him 9 months of peace.

In the long months since, we've all adjusted our expectations. The rampiest individuals have largely ceased their attacks on those with more realistic interpretations, and if we are still plagued by a few cave trolls they lack the ability to wound that they once possessed. In the main the board is a place of resigned and almost silent harmony. A post-apocalyptic harmony perhaps with just a few shadowy figures shuffling through the scorched Synairgen citadel - greeting each other with small nods of recognition in the dark passageways.

We know it's gonna take a long time from here, a very long time - and most of us know that this is not a game that Synairgen will ever win in the way that we and they hoped for during Covid. I don't think STRIVE is a possibility now - if it ever was. NIH obviously want more than the deep dive we were so0 enthusiastic about. So it'll be the low slow road. We know this because no major pharma has deemed the company worth a £20m punt.

But we are a hardy bunch and we'll see it through to the end.

The idea - by the way - that Synairgen has achieved something in merely surviving to this point - is of course laughable. It had a once in a lifetime chance of glory - held the winning ticket in its hand - but threw it away in a mixture of hubris and incompetence. The chance won't come again.

Re questions for the AGM. Can't really see any point in preparing any questions frankly. This is not last year when we had the disaster of Feb 21st to look back on, but more relevantly and positively the promise of the deep dive and how this might make SNG a candidate for the newly funded STRIVE platform trial or a candidate for partnership/takeover.

This year we know what the direction of travel is - multiple small trials to pave the way for a P3 investigating SNG as a multiviral drug for respiratory diseases and infections.

If they have something to tell us in relation to this - then there will be questions about timescales and timelines leading to the P3. If they don't and haven't managed to progress these modest ambitions at all, then the only questions that are relevant will be about pay cuts and reduction in staffing to keep the ship afloat for an extended period. It's already ridiculous that the 2021 commercialisation hires are still in the building frankly.

Beyond this ( and despite having said there are no questions to ask ) I would like someone to attend with a T-shirt reading STRIVE... ?

STRIVE... ? for this is the only question worth asking beyond those that relate to the small trials and long road that lies ahead. STRIVE might yet be the lifeboat that brings our shipwrecked crew safe to shore - and it would be good if any of our reps is prepared to ask about it - and even better if they receive an honest answer.

Finally - I'm certainly not interested in whether anyone looks them in the eye and thinks they're decent chaps and chapesses. We know they are - all that matters now is whether they are competent enough to somehow get this old tub over the line .

i'm sure they'll have an outline of the trial designs, numbers and sites which will give us something to digest. if they don't have this or can't share any more than we already know it'd probably be better to not have a q&a. the antagonists won't show up of course but there'd be enough ****ed off lths to make it very uncomfortable without something positive.

This is very poor. Even if there is something major in the offing they still wouldn't deserve new share options. If we get back anywhere close to pre-crash sp levels ( which could only happen with a major trial announcement and positive results ) then we might consider that they'd earned their previous awards.

And there isn't something major in the offing anyway. Best we can hope for is confirmation of start dates for one or more of the tiny trials they're about to embark on. And hopefully, something positive from Universal.

We're just not fans of MrC, Lebus. When someone presents as a bad actor for so long and with such relentless mind-numbing, eyeballing-scorching repetition and inanity, you will find they tend to generate negative responses. He's at best a run of the mill online troll, at worst, a deeply malevolent sociopath. His pal Professional is cut from the same low grade cloth.

If these characters attempt to rehabilitate their reputations - as both MC and Professional have done at various times over the last 16 months and longer, you'll also find a reluctance among many correspondents to believe them. And if they keep croaking their ugly refrain, they'll find nobody is listening.

We all share the disappointments of the last 2,3 years and more - and we know things might have been done diferently but we choose to remain invested, both materially and emotionally, in SNG001's journey. Too many positives still in play to ever allow the voices of despair to discourage us.

Good that you're still doing what you can to help Alpha - but for £20 you can buy enough Metformin to treat 6 -10 patients for the 6 days of dosing used in the trial ) So maybe £2-£3 per patient for a whole course of treatment. Much less when bought in bulk and long out of patent.

Targeted in the study at overweight and obese patients with an average age of 45. Most commonly used over long years in Type 2 Diabetes and part of its method of action is to protect small blood vessels - which is presumably exactly why it helps against Long Covid. Metformin failed its outpatient trial against severe covid ( an earlier readout of this same trial) but with 40% efficacy against LC and at this price it's exactly the kind of cheap magic pill NIH and MHRA love. Even if someone found SNG's LC data compelling - and there's no evidence that anyone does - it would still never receive direct approval for LC, whereas the people who will benefit from Metformin if testing positive for C-19 will most likely already have a big box of it in the bathroom cabinet. It's already the 3rd most prescribed drug in the US - and you would imagine will be quickly approved for at least clinically obese Covid patients.

Does it affect SNG ? Obviously yes, its another drug taking care of business in one of SNG's targeted areas, but nobody ever expected an authorisation based on LC anyway. SNG's LC benefit is a bi-product of its strong performanace against severe outcomes in specific cohorts of hospitalised patients. The work to fine tune the targeting should begin later this year.

Very sorry to hear your news Tommyd, and best wishes for a swift and speedy recovery . I reported a while back that my 88 yr old ma was diagnosed with stage 4 NHL in the summer of 21. She recovered fully after chemo and is in prime health again now.

Regarding the current situation - I'm less sanguine than others but I take comfort from the positivity some of our best posters display. It'll be a slow road if we don't get STRIVE (which we still might ) and very few of us will be retiring early or even ordering new kitchens - but the pain is all behind us and with summer here at last, we should leave the worry alone for a spell. Hoping for something a little more positive at the AGM - an early readout from Universal , and remember that none of us (except for the obvious trolls) came here just for the money. Most of us invested when Covid was raging out of control across the globe and little Synairgen's SNG001 seemed to offer a ray of hope. The science is still solid and if it does somehow come good in a year or two, but without the shower of riches for individual shareholders - that will be enough for me.

Sure it's a glitch TP. The board would be an even sadder place without your balance and good humour.

Lots of us still looking in, but silently. Nothing to contribute really until at least the AGM and probably far beyond.

Universal interim data will probably be the first sign of something - but it'll be dry stuff marked for enthusiasts only. Synairgen's own trials may not even start until 2024 and certainly won't lead to a P3 for at least a year.

Same sadness many have expressed regarding the quality of the board in recent times. When there's not much of value to read and what little there is buried beneath layers of guano....

Nicely expressed Xv - classy as ever. Think we've all been trying to talk the drug onto a trial and into hospitals. A 14 month mantra-chanting group hug for the company and 24 hr therapy session for its battle- scarred supporters. The company is very lucky to have such a knowledgeable and supportive group of pis and if this is the flattest point in the long journey there may still be bright days ahead.
I'm taking another leave. Hopefully looking back in for the AGM or earlier if I wake up to the reverberations of something spectacular and strivey detonating at the end of the M3 and shaking my Hampton Wick windows.

they're not taking this route because they like data so much - but because they've been told that what they have isn't enough. Possibly not enough for STRIVE and definitely not enough for the big multi virus trial some people were expecting. Almost a year since the post hoc was published and in that time they must have at least asked the question informally. And been told no - you need more. Some of our enthusuasts seemed to think they'd be able to walk onto a P3 multi virus trial without doing the ground work. That was never going to happen.

It's what they be though. Small and specifically focused.
Rather more optimistic - not for the short term - but it sounds as if the trial design is complete anyway - and if there are 2 or 3 in difft settings then that would have taken up a considerable amount of time over the last 6 months or so.
Also interesting that he's still holding out for "at home" as well as hospital. Wonder if one of the trials will be outpatients
