Steve Brine MP for Winchester & Chandler’s Ford has replied to my request that he investigate the unacceptable delay to Avacta’s application for Home Use Approval. Here is his reply:
Dear Mr XXXXXX
Thank you for your email. I apologise for the delay in response.
I do hope you had a lovely Christmas and New Year.
I appreciate your concerns about the approval of Avacta lateral flow tests.
I have written to the DHSC on your behalf and shall be in touch as soon as I have an update.
Kind regards,
Steve

Working hard for Winchester & Chandler’s Ford
I guess his Adjournment Debate follows Secretaries of States’ statements
Ellie Reeves (Lab) just asked why HMG aren’t supporting British LFD mfrs and Boris answered by saying the test must be approved by MHRA. Shame she didn’t ask why the 20-Day approval period is now running at 100+ days.
The 22 December RNS didn’t include approval for home-use in UK

This journal claims AffiDx is now available for self-test in UK
www.med-technews.com
5 JANUARY 2022 11:03
Avacta, a clinical stage biopharmaceutical company developing diagnostics based on its Affimer and pre|CISION platforms, has announced that the AffiDX SARS-CoV-2 antigen lateral flow test has received a CE mark for use as a consumer self-test in the UK and EU.”
If this is correct why no RNS?
This article in The Economist suggests the production of monoclonal antibodies in laboratory fermenters will shape future mRNA drug production.
Forgive my ignorance, but could this be a reference to the wider future use of Avacta’s Affimer tech?

I’m a Tory voter but if we want to put HMG on the spot over the lack of approval of Avacta’s LFD why not educate Labour MPs?
Thanks Ophidian. A very Happy Christmas to you and your family and a healthy and rewarding 2022 to you too.
Thank you for sharing your positivity with other LTH’s on here throughout these challenging last 6 months.
BBC 11:00 news this morning leads with the story that there are no home use available currently and applicants are advised to try again later. We all know why Affidx isn’t available, Govt haven’t cleared it. Bloody shambles.
No mention of LFD’s in this WHO report from BBC, just vax passports.

The interesting and comprehensive Hansard record of the House of Lords debate on LFD’s was dated 12 July 2021. Hopefully enough filthy water has passed under the MHRA’s bridge to challenge Lord Bethell’s defence of ongoing procurement of sub-standard, even dangerous, Innova tests when he is quoted at the end of the Hansard item thus:
“I completely understand noble Lords’ concerns about the FDA press release and its concerns about the Innova tests. I assure them that MHRA colleagues were entirely involved in the intense conversations with the FDA and have satisfied themselves that the FDA’s concerns were not applicable to the UK market. We continue to maintain the purchasing of Innova tests based on validations that we in the UK have done for ourselves.”
Radds: send a copy of that to Alistair Smith and ask for his comments about Innova passing PD assessment.
1,077 trades today - £4M bought value versus £2M sold. Share price drop to £1.25 from £1.45 has nothing to do with market sentiment but all to do with MM’s shaking the tree to pick up cheap shares from weak holders. Hold for gold is my position here.
An article in this mornings online press states:
“Since the start of Euro 2020, only UK residents who are fully vaccinated or can show proof of a negative lateral flow test from the previous 48 hours can be at Wembley.”
Does anyone know how a supporter keen to attend Wembley can prove a negative result from an LFD to Wembley’s gatekeepers?
Why no mention of Avacta? Proven to be the best LFD available! Where’s our PR team? Why haven’t they been in touch with this journalist from the Conservative Woman? Rapid flow tests are getting a proper kicking from the media and you can bet this won’t help our cause with public confidence in asymptomatic testing falling daily.
Mark Dolan Show now 4:45
Richard Tice, Leader of Reform UK talking to Mike Graham on Talk Radio now, claims 600 million Innova tests have gone missing from Dept of Health stock. Great news - lol!
Welcome home Energy! Open something expensive!
Buster Gonads and his unfeasibly large testicles? I don’t own a wheelbarrow but I do remember laughing at Viz!!
Nice one ??
Sonia Elijah independent journo previously BBC researcher just published Report #2 of 3 exposing Innova. Mark Dolan interviewed her and she gave the Chinese/Pasaca Capital/IMG combo a proper kicking.
Unfortunately she was dismissive of the benefits of testing for asymptomatic carriers thinking all LFD’s are as unreliable and dangerous as Innova’s. So I tweeted her and pointed her to Avacta.
Here is Part 2 of her report.

Part 3 covers the scandal of the “altered” instructions for use.
This is worth a read; Mina argues firmly in favour of rapid lfd’s
