@elcobbledore, no one times their buys and sells perfectly. If you are sure that the long term price will be X, then just consider what kind of range you want to buy within to manage your risk if you get things wrong.
Uncertain times mean volatile ups and downs, largely unpredictable as can be seen from the inability of anyone on either side of trolling or ramping line here or other LSE boards to actually predict short term in any useful capacity.
Longer term positions mean longer term strategies just as day trading requires discipline but the longer you hold a position in anything you also assume risk as well as opportunity.
Some of us can afford to take huge risks here as we have passive income from property etc. and other sources of money than riding everything on the markets and/or one stock and not yet heading towards old age, others need to think in less advantageous positions around their financial capability, age or life events conspiring against them.
We didn't all climb aboard the train together and we won't all be getting off at the same station, apparently some I tend to ride through trian behind their own life journey :-))
