Greggs already sell vegan sausage rolls which are a massive seller, beloved by vegans (including my daughter). Vegans do not seem to find the idea of a lab grown donkey d*** appealing at all. Where exactly is the market for these products ? Will they ever really compete with existing vegan products ? Not likely IMO

Use any price comparison site and CNA does not feature as remotely competitive and is simply seen as a benchmark price which is beaten with ease. The only customers left are those who are trapped. Barclays and RBS are being sued in the UK over allegations of rigging the forex market.
The banks are facing a class action claim by investors understood to be in excess of £1bn, alongside JP Morgan, Citi and UBS.
The suit was filed on Monday with the UK's Competition Appeal Tribunal (CAT), alleging that the five banks broke competition laws by unlawfully manipulating the market between 2007 and 2013.
It is being led by former chairman of the Pensions Regulator funded by litigation finance group Therium.
The total value of the claim would depend on the number of trades executed in London and the proportional impact of the rate rigging.
Given the size of London's "forex" market, the total value was likely to exceed £1bn and possibly several.

As for TPG being vulnerable to takeover, pal from Portsmouth suggests that consolidation of UK defence industries is inevitable with shrinking size of fleet/armed forces and that TPG is more likely to be swallowed up by a UK concern rather than US. Until this conversation, had always thought that TPG would do the taking over. Back to the plot, the most likely UK players both begin with 'B' but only one has the frigate repair contract based in Portsmouth. Funnily enough, my daughter has just graduated with a BA in Portsmouth - what a coincidence ... Unadulterated speculation but a strange coincidence nonetheless.
Hope TPG slips the net and finally lands that purchase we have all been waiting for the last two years.

To me, the surprise of this week was the astonishing news that US vultures had descended on Cobham to feast, and that Meggitt is considering beating them off. Wondering if anyone knows 1) whether TPG may have some involvement here - not to table a counter bid - but maybe to scrounge some scraps that the vultures or Meggitt do not want ? 2) with yanks snapping up UK defence firms while dollar strong against sterling, could TPG be in the cross-hairs ? 3) with pound so weak against just about every other currency, is this a factor holding back TPG overseas acquisitions ?

Bring back Fred the Shred ? I feel sorry for Fred - trying to make ends meet on his £342,000 per year pension. Still surprised RBS paid 1bill (100mill legal costs) to prevent him being taken to court over the rights issue and spilling the beans.
IMO - time for an external candidate to make a clean cut from the past - male or female.

Apparently, RBS are sounding out boss of HSBC's UK operation - Ian Stuart - who apparently spent more than 20 years at Nastywest before it was taken over by RBS, together with spell at Barclays and then HSBC.
Sounds like a great candidate for job.

Dactions - please feel free to point out just 1 long-term holder who is not seriously angry about the non spend of the massive war chest amassed two years ago, and fact that mc is so low . Article does not mention the cash mountain left over from the last cash call 2 years ago which is virtually half the existing mc but intriguingly mentions that a further cash call is on the cards for a large purchase. Wonder what it might be ?
Also promises no dividend and profits to double from £1.5 million in 2018 to £3 million this year, with sales to increase by 41 per cent to £55 million with further strong growth pencilled in for 2020. Could have done with that in the 'Trading Update'.
Apparently, 'TP shares are 6.4p and should rise considerably from here'.
Well, they could not fall much further with so much cash in bank ...

As for Rose becoming CEO, she clearly has a problem with timekeeping or is going to get a very very long contract. At a rate of 100 complaints a day, it will take her about 10 years just to get through 2008 !

Iconic Oz brewer Carlton & United sold to Japan's Asahi for $16 billion.
The iconic Australian brewer CUB (Carlton & United Breweries), which produces well known beers LOL such as Victoria Bitter, Carlton Draught, Great Northern, Cascade and Crown Lager has been sold by its European owners to Asahi for $US11.3 billion.
The deal was announced on the Tokyo Stock Exchange on Friday by Asahi and CUB's former owner, Belgian based multinational Anheuser-Busch InBev.

The 49-year-old was appointed No2 at ringfenced banking operations in December, paving the way for her to replace Ross. History graduate, London-based mother-of-two, has worked at RBS for over 20 years with roles including head of Europe, Middle East and Africa, and head of leveraged finance for the UK and Europe. She recently oversaw a review of female entrepreneurship commissioned by the Treasury.
Apparently, shareholders “would be highly supportive” if Rose was offered the job and became the first female CEO of one of the big UK banks.
