Groundhog day was when legal head of project got stuffed for getting ppi'd and saying what he thought to some dork from New Dork. So expect to be back to this level of progress in 2 years time. Lets face it, legal council will need to start again looking at and charging for everything.

I am personally very upset about the GNK takeover news. Until I found out why the MARS sp had rocketed, I had vainly put the rise down to my efforts in consuming as much Hobgob Gold as possible. Fantastic beer. Which brings me back to reality, an illusion created by lack of alcohol, and thoughts of Spitfire Gold. Looks almost dead cert that MARS will shortly follow GNK into foreign ownership, and was wondering what to do with the proceeds and what the next target will be. On the grounds that two of my favourite beers are Hobgob Gold and Spitfire Gold, seems logical that the next target will be the brewer of Spitfire Gold - Shephard Neame. Had a frantic look around and found that SN is traded on NEX and the share price has yet to respond to the GNK news - which was a surprise. Has anyone here ever traded anything on NEX ? Is the market fairly liquid or is it chock full of Toy Story hero's Zombie stocks ?

gw - thanks for posting the report. Difficult to value WRES and nice to see how Turner Pope came up with 1.09. Often wondered how Northland arrived at 1.20, but not complaining with either valuations.

Down pub talking to a guy wearing a horned helmet. Turned out he came from Denmark on a raid (Vikings don't do holidays) and was boasting about buying some dump in Copenhagen for what seemed like a ridiculous price. Asked him how he could afford it and was told, to my amazement, that he has a negative interest rate mortgage !!!! Thought this was beer talking, but he then admitted that although the rate is actually minus 0.5 percent, he had had to pay an exorbitant arrangement fee to get the mortgage in the first place, so the real rate is nearer 2% with this fee added on. Made me realise that negative interest rates are not a problem in the mortgage market because the bank makes its money from the arrangement fee, so RBS should be OK going forward ...

Negative broker views is an understatement. Multiple downgrades with not one positive. Seems that RBS is viewed as the next zombie bank as UK mortgage conditions turn down and RBS most exposed to this market.
HSBC to Hold from Buy.
Macquarie to Neutral from Outperform.
UBS still Buy but lower price target.
