You can also relate the Iranian situation to Russia yes Europe is banning oil by the end of the year but all they’re doing is selling cheaper oil to India and China it’s still not stopping the demand for oil… it’s about capacity and the lack of investment for the last six or seven years… this massive drop in CapX is now causing the problem amongst geopolitical situation… The oil market has to be constantly looking for new oil each year to keep the game going that has been cut back by 40% each year since 2014 you are now starting to see the consequences of those things…

The US still imports half its oil mostly from Saudi Arabia… even if there was any truth in the Iran situation to bring those barrels on line it would take time and independent investment… and I very much doubt America would choose to sleep with the enemy…
Far more inclined to try and persuade OPEC to pump more but why should they they’re quite happy with the price of oil and it works for them and there isn’t much capacity left from them anyway..

You forget to see the elephant in the room also with your argument of climate policy you forget that we are still 7080% reliant on oil and gas which isn’t going away any time soon and if we haven’t learnt anything over the last year about how volatile that price can be when there’s a constraint on supply…. If there’s any policy it’s to continue encouraging development for the next 10 to 20 years before any meaningful replacement can be found so please stop scaremongering and study a little bit more…. rhetoric from governments and reality on the ground are two different things which has been very clear to see!

Totally Gloucester! so after having his little import business he has an insight into a public listed company ..,,.politics pressures and big money and business… I agree with his theory but I believe he is slightly naive, But maybe he can give us an insight into the companies that he has run under similar situations with hundreds of million of someone else’s money..!

Great comparison Simple to a normal recession one were no one can fly and people not going out or driving!! Stick to facts! Try a comparison to 2008 or 1990 growth drops but not off a Cliff there would still be a supply problem with current geopolitical situation!
