Well Bob, the Germans will have to create alternative energy sources. They have shallow water offshore in both North Sea and Baltic so they'd better build windfarms. They have water pouring of the Alps and powerful big rivers. Hydro electric and barrages? Maybe UK and Norway might be able to help out since both are prospecting their surrounding water for both natural gas and oil. , France, a EU friend and neighbor is very much into nuclear power - maybe Germany may have to consider that as well. Finally there will be gas coming under the Black Sea from Azerbaijan to Europe
Hi Border Bob! Sorry to read the "speed trap" got ya and you were somewhat vulnerable in that area. The view from a police aircraft is excellent...and on those roads across open desert you would be like a mouse crossing a motorway to a hawk! They just radio the nearest " cruiser" and NV Troopers aren't known for their mercy.(lol) I got trapped too around there but then I was "family" ( as in a seven-pointed star).
Just to set the record straight, Wikieup sits astride Arizona's Highway 93 and is about midway between going north from Phoenix AZ to Las Vegas NV (and around 370 miles south of Bradda Head's mining target in Nevada) It ain't on an Interstate as such because they are built with Federal approval. In fact Route 93 at Wikiup is an awful 2 lane road for about 30 miles going south before reverting to a dual carriageway. My understanding is that some time way in the future the route will be replaced by new Interstate (I-11i going from Mexico to Canada but right now only a few miles designated I-11 have been constructed to the south of Las Vegas and across the Colorado River near the Hoover Dam so they've only got another 1,500 miles or so to complete the Interstate. (I read latin too!).
3hrs 45 mins from Las Vegas airport at 60 mph (very few go that slow up Hwy 95!). Real wide open spaces......just cactus - which is why the coyotes howl 50C+ most of summer. Enjoy.( I just moved to South Carolina!)
No John, I do not think Ariana was overvalued at 6p but considerably undervalued and should by then have made 10p at least. Remember how ell some other minnows fared - UFO for instance and of course the Mariana ventures, ultimately selling out to the royalty firm Sandstorm (which these days is actively mining itself (and currently around 30% down on its share price from a year ago!). Personally I hoped that AAU might have sold out for a good price rather than got into a larger JV. I might then have re-invested with any new independent mining venture being undertaken by Dr K and his geological team and loyal staff.
John - " I don't really see it as a dividend" Okay then......let's call it a Special Payment instead. (same horse - different jockey?) I must also (in spite of all his often unpleasant personal jibes) compliment Deano on his last post which I thought to be right to the point and a fair response to the " failure" of our share price to move upward more dramatically..
" Ariana is very undervalued, what will change the negative sentiment around Ariana?"
With great respect, no offence and all that, Strangerstill, your posting has just catalogued what most of us already know. The fact is that in a few years our heirs may indeed be jumping for joy but the fact remains that over just the last two years our sp has dropped 50% and three quarters of what was Ariana's then business has been assimilated into a larger JV. Negative enough?
Right now in the world scenario, " jam tomorrow" aint gonna do much for a share price now..
I was surprised when the " current" special dividend turned out to be paid as 50% of the sum last Autumn then the other half divided into two separate payment - one fairly soon and the other to be scheduled this year but at some point to be decided later than the AGM. I would have thought there would have been only two splits of 50% and when the whole intention of giving us a Special Dividend (on the eventuality everything being agreed on the JV) was a possibility I thought it would have been a full lump sump for those entitled. I don't think "Dividend" is too welcome in Ariana 's thinking imho so, Millfield, don't hold your breath . Perhaps in 5-10 years with all the recent promises actually reaching fruition there may be profits to share. Time will tell.
Music not my favorite, Paul1D, but some good locos in the background. Churnet Valley photos brought back memories of the BR Midland carriages in their red livery (I can even remember their previous " blood & custard". I travelled occasionally on both the "Mancunian" and "Comet" expresses. Steam hauled by Duchess Class or the latter by Patriot Class (becauseof tighter curves in places. When electrification started it slowed down the fat trains and Itraveled on the disel-powered very comfortable Midland Pullman service from Manchester to St.Pancras which used the former Midland and initially crossed over to the east side of the Pennines. instaed of going straight south through Staffordshire. Anyway, thanks for the websites.
OK John - this will make you go green. As a kid I travelled on the first section of the Orient Express ...(Pullman Class naturally- full silver servive evening dinner and hauled by an impressive SNCF Chapelon Pacific Before I left Nevada (late 2020) I drove about 40 miles to Kelso CA to see the fully restored Union Pacific "Big Boy" come in with a rake of assorted restored passengers cars. It stopped for about 15 minutes and I was able to walk around the loco and chat with the engineer.. It was going to run special excursions from Los Angeles and elsewhere through the South West for the season...but at a helluva price for a few hours which I wasn.t that enthusiastic..
No sp increase today for us and still quite a lot of selling going on Wonder if we are going to see a new RNS to tickle things up?.
Those "Airwolf" pics, Paul1D, brought back memories of my former home. There were no trains either, John, but plenty of camper vans. . Now my views are lush green fields and trees and the bonus is ONE passenger train per day at some time (it can be a few hours late!) in each direction.. (
Everyone is coming out with some real sensible comments...a great turnout and much appreciated by me. Like I said previously, I'm hanging in at least until we get those 2 divvis but some of my "panamerican" shares are moving well after also being down in the dumps somewhat so I'm tempted to move my money elsewhere and reduce my investment here and in Turkey asap....but not at 3-4p per share.. Remember that there is also big investment in Turkish mining by several Canadian and US mining corporations (the NATO membership is a reassurance). I think an uplift in gold price right now would do wonders for the industry and hopefully Ariana too. This current level of our sp is not good for our spirits (even down the pub!).
Good Luck for your team C&B. Personally in Soccer, Liverpool comes to mind (and my wife suggests that our transatlantic shout should be "Go" rather than "Up" . (lol) . Thanks for your viewpoint about Venus, Willowman...what you'd hinted at last year was worrying me somewhat. .
Me too, Paul1D. especially when you think of all the " iffy" and starter companies on AIM that immediately leap skyward but subsequently quickly collapse. On the face of it there is absolutely no reason why Ariana's sp should be slowly but surely deteriorating when we are told that it all looks excellent and there is basically a bank of stocks in hand which would cover the next three years. For some reason there is no rush to join us and in fact so far today the selling far outstrips the stock buyers. I can only think somebody somewhere knows something we don't about this Company. Meantime I'll hang in here until the Special divvi is done....half faith if ya like.
Absolutely " bang on" , John ,with your comments ...but do not despair my friend In just a few weeks we shall be given the next part of our Special divvi and when it is announced at the AGM thereafter when the final part is to be paid, we will also receive rose-colored spectacles to better appreciate the next video wherein Dr K will tell Proactive's Investors' man " Everything is so terrific with this Company that, as you can see. Andrew, we are starting our 2023 New Year with a share price of 10 pence!". Don't you worry about eating my old Stetson either, John, 'cos I reckon I'll be more likely to be roasting a flying pig.
Did you invest in PALM (Panther) by any chance? I did but got out fairly soon before its SP steadily plunged thereafter. I also appreciate your doubts about the wisdom of going into a larger partnership. I am not impressed either with deals in Kazakhstan or Kosovo. Australia perhaps but we have lots of stuff underground in my own country yet to be sourced and mined.
(PauliD) - " these are shrewd operators where the directors seems to make their riches but the shareholder cannot be rewarded for their investment and patience" . I have bee concerned about this aspect of what I think of as " Lifesyle Firms" over the years when you see the fate of so many AIM -listed Companies. A perfect example imho was the principal directors of the similar-named Arian Silver where the bosses creamed it off and the investors lost out. However I was assured that sort of situation would not happen here ' cos everone tended to marvel at the hitherto success of Dr K in developing Ariana Resources. However these last 2 years it seems to have turned into a dog. Folks on here thought reaching 10p per share was imminent. You and I now regret we didn't sell out at 6p ( although I tried to reduce my holding but my broker couldn't find buyers for the numbers for the size of tranche I was offering at that moment. Following on from the enthusiasm of VanVan and the massive (near 3%) investment of Biggles, I have somewhat hung on....but I can't help sedriously wondering now whether my faith has been misplaced. Yes - you can hope that Cyprus will uplift things but I am also aware that another of our regular bloggers (he knows what he said) did not want any part of this Venus connection because he had serious misgivings about their BoD and its dual-citizen principal. As for the Salinbas timetable (or lack of Grantt Chart) I am also invested with Sandstorm , who having gobbled up Mariana) have not exactly increased their shareprice dramatically....in fact they are around 35+% down and there is no dramatic news coming out of the vaunted Hod Maden area. My only consolation is, unlike the UK where you get quite a good allowance for Capital Gains, across the ocean here just about ever cent of gain is taxed but at least this year I have losses to offset that "arguable" AAU Dividend.
Of Course, Paul but don't drink too much beforehand ! https://medium.com/the-story-hall/the-worlds-oldest-father-6a3dc9a8ab04. Seemingly Anthony Quinn ("Zorba the Greek") was still randy in his 80s. woof-woof !
Paul1D - " I really do not think you are either educated or researched enough to understand fabian socialism, it's purpose and it's end goal" and again ".you old sloppy sausage!" . Thank your for further clarifying some of your other points but let's face it, Paul, you are a self-opinionated big girl's blouse.(and I'm putting it politely!) since I also believe you aspire to be considered an " intellectual". Clearly you feel you that you need recognition and thus you resort to trying to reinforce your position by " name dropping" - be it quotes or opinions expressed by other various sources.
At the other extreme, your further supposition that vulgarity and demeaning others will give you an aura of superiority. is of little consequence...and in my own case biologically incorrect. I am not in fact a sausage.
Historically , Quintus Fabius Maximus Verrucosus, goes down as an accomplished general and leader. In truth he also screwed up extremely badly at Cannae where he was routed by an inferior allied force. He was also known by the term " cunctator" (or delayer) and, yes, he eventually briefly became a dictator. Sounds familiar?
My own political thinking is somewhat different to "Fabianism" as it ultimately devolved and I see myself as Social Democrat (as opposed to democratic socialist .....there is a difference). Quite frankly I am not interested at all in reading opinions, whether it's those of the Huxleys, George Bernard Shaw, Bertrand Russell or for that matter the various stock-buying tipsters referred to on here from time to time. I need to see clear proof, ideally factual or at least a very strong majority opinion in support to gain my interest.
Generally therefore I choose to immerse myself with things I enjoy and do my best to avoid things I don't. That goes for reading, traveling, sports, pastimes, films and tv. It makes absolutely no sense to take on unnecessary stress when there are consultants to deal with that. Compared with say a Greenland Shark, our lives are not especially of long duration.
Apologies to all for going off subject. AAU has gained a little today.. Lithium appears to be holding up quite well. However I don't anticipate shares moving up until the problems with Ukraine and Trump's assertions (and accomplices) are finalized.
Sorry Paul1D but you live on a different planet at times and I sincerely doubt if many of our fellows on here connected your Rio Tinto thoughts with Australian truckers. I freely admit that some of the time your thinking (or satirical diversions) go right over my head. What seems quite clear though is that you motivated somewhat " right of center" (although not fascist) whereas I am " left of center" because I have witnessed many apparently "Privileged-class" power wielders venting their contempt for the plebs during the privacy of visits to the rather more exclusive executive " bogs" (as in loo) during my many years of experience. I have little doubt that you will become further enlightened as you age, my Dear Chap.. Ultimately you might even hurl your smart phone into the nearest lake, perceive all the nicer things you are now free to enjoy if you so wish and smile at the antics of others.. Finally remember to stay clear of the M20 ' cos it's ramjamfull of truckers. Dang those foreigners again! Have a nice Day.
