Russia dismisses 'peace proposal' and says Ukraine must accept new 'realities'
A reported three-step peace proposal from the Ukrainian president has been dismissed by Russia.
Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said Ukraine needed to accept new "realities", including Russia's capture of Ukrainian territories.
Yesterday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy called for G7 leaders to provide military equipment and support for financial and energy stability, as well as backing for a peace solution.
This peace proposal would start with Russia withdrawing troops from Ukraine, Mr Zelenskyy said.
Moscow has repeatedly said it is willing to hold peace talks, but appears to refuse to budge on its terms - which would include retaining captured territory.
Meanwhile, Ukraine has refused to cede this territory to Russia and says its opponent should leave all parts of the country.
