Kaeren, I am glad that you share my thoughts and concerns precisely ..The owners of Villa Vie “ do have history” and it will for others to look that up but JW assured me some time ago that they are now well funded in $$$’s and they seem a reasonable lot to do business with .He did indicate that there would be a prepayment required before docking in and also before release from dock. As you rightly say, Kaeren, us shareholders have no real idea or information as to the proportion of our work here nor on the Margarita /Mas Islander, nor to a lesser extent on the SeaRose though I am not that bothered about that one …for now !! X
Si, Kaeran tells me that there is no direct link at all…. .the vessel and project is ring fenced and funded internally both as to the leasing and re-furbishment /redcec and is not connected to any LUF type or indeed any other Gov. ( local or central )funding at all .I may be wrong but I trust M/s K impeccably !!
Correct, Stokey, and dear young Kaeren tells me this eve that all the BOD has to do really is to show that the Scilly venture and the leasing of Atlantic Wolff is ring-fenced and financed independently outside of UKEF and in any case predates such .
You are spot on regarding the absence of direct LUF involvement -well said as always !
Fair comment to a point ,Consuela, but memories will fade if all of the claptrap arising this week and continuing in the Press can be negated. I really do not see how Sunak & Co can let H&W fail at this stage with significant investment in plant machinery and new build already placed into Belfast and ( may I say from the horses mouth of employees there as relayed to me personally ) with that yard at least buzzing with an overload of work ——maybe we can hear of a couple of further contracts very soon and perhaps some action from other members of the BOD who seem to have remained silent throughout —rough sees ahead and no firm sighting of land sadly !!
Don’t you mean “the John Wood “ for the trees ? ….JW ( and AR to a certain extent + all the valued employees ) have done us proud up to the 4th year of the 5 year plan…so far at least anyway .As many have said where would we be with the one trick pony that was and remains I.M. —that “bloody hole in the ground” that is yet to come to fruition.
Over the weekend I really would like to assess here the worth of the shenanigans appearing today about the “Big Deal ‘ being affected by our Scilly Venture -can’t quite get my head around that one ? Hopefully the lawyers will be working overtime at Field Fisher !!
Apparently there is a YouTube video called “ Part 1 Captain Georgios “ going around with some tedious dialogue and certain interesting shots especially over the rather delicate method of painting over of the name “Braemar” . Need someone to copy and paste here. I just hope that JW has a full pre-docking payment and certainly full cover before she leaves .
Must be nearly there before the end of April ?? --The I.I's do not appear to have given up on this one and most are in at 20p remember as this was the last major cash call with them some time ago now. I am not aware of any changes in the list of Significant Investors of late so their support remains a good foundation for a decent rise in the S.P. if and when the re-finance is finally sorted! All of my recent "Buys" have been shown as "Sells" so don't please read into all that you see on the deals here. Hold on tight. This has been an extremely rough ride for us all including the crew ....nearly as bad as a trip to the Scilly Isles. Whoops !!
We are told that she is travelling back and forth between Drogheda and SRQ supposedly for crew replenishment and cheaper fuel source ( outside U.K. waters etc ) but is there any other information please ? Now on here second or third adventure down South ! Seems a strange set up so far ??
Political Journalism which is surprising really from this esteemed Tory mouthpiece? Not fully a problem as we have the contact and it is working ( in so far as we are told ) with investment in replacement of outdated structures and machinery at Belfast already well advanced . Due Diligence will have been effected on all the subsequent major contracts /preferred bidder arrangements in particular the Falkland Isles Jetty and these would not have been awarded if we were in dire straights .So there you have it ! But a little concerned to hear that the FSS deal is or was "not underwritten by any Bank " ???
Stokey, thank you for the excellent link as always. The arrival of this massive vessel reminds me with pride of the moment in December 2019 when as Infrastrata Ltd we rescued H&W at Belfast from probable final closure as it had been for sale as a real basket case for some time. There was little hope of anything but final closure after years of underinvestment
All LTH's here should be immensely proud of our achievements some 4 years on with the yard now buzzing with work and more to come with the expected arrival of the Villa Vie Odyssey ( formerly Fred Olsen's Braemar) for a multi million value transformation into a residential cruise ship.
Expected arrival is next month so with Mas Islander already being worked on at last we have a full house.
So from 2019 and in just 4 years from zilch and an extremely brave but then necessary move by JW and AR we now have over 1,000 staff and many apprentices on board.
I have it on good authority that we should complete the refinancing in Q1 and there are high hopes for a successful Court decision though that is not guaranteed. We are in the 4th year of a 5 year plan with Navantia's incoming investment in cash and machinery already working wonders.
H&W (and JW in particular ) has had its detractors from those that are not really interested in job and hence wealth creation. We should all remain immensely proud today.
I have to say that Sea Rose certainly looks as thought it needs a good facelift -so welcome back !!
Broomtree .Thanks and noted --bit of a bu**er of a site following the near debacle with Saipem and the deliveries of duff steel from the Far East. We can only hope for inclusion in the "Forth Free Trade Area " as per the link xx.
