Not posted in a while but I have genuine concerns over why the Q4 update for BE is still not with us. The visit that Alfa took part in recently seemed to suggest that the battery commissioning was successful, but we have had no news on this for quite some time despite this being promised. Normal caveats about being generally bullish and investing for the longterm, nonetheless this bearish cycle and the absence of meaningful news isn't great for confidence.

Same. My plan is to buy around 10k shares at about 8.00am on the 8th April...

@uksteveg I think that is part of the issue - the definition and purpose of these updates seems to have been revised and reinterpreted, to the stage where they serve little to no purpose as they stand. Either it is business as usual and we get uninteresting yet regular updates, or news is being held back (for whatever reason), in which case we should have RNSs when the important news drops.

It still stands that we are owed updates on Eskom battery commissioning and electrolyte production facility progress, on information which should have been known to the business over two months ago.

I'm sorry, but I find it borderline ridiculous that they "cannot provided a time scale for the release of the Bushveld Energy RNS". I'm all for the longterm growth of this company and ignoring the short term, but I cannot see how they can expect to attract institutional investors when they cannot commit to even the most minimal of self-imposed reporting and updates.

No shorting or deramping here, just genuine frustration that the delivery if these quarterly updates are slipping every time. Q4 finished 9 weeks ago.

Thanks Endion, hadn't seen that. As of today we are three months from the last update, which in itself was more than three months from the Q2 update. I guess I am just wondering what they know now that they didn't back in December when the quarter actually ended that means that they haven't released the update yet.

I think a well-overdue update on BE might help us out on this front. No idea when we're going to get it, mind...

The price monitoring extension is where there is a bid in the final closing auction that is well below the recent trading range for the SP. This extends the auction to get some more reasonable offers in to determine the closing SP. In this case, Mr 32.1p was well below the closing SP range of 37-ish p.

This has the same feel as our rerate to 48p back at the end of October.

Look like our pal Mr 31.2 is back. Luckily the price monitoring extensions means its unlikely he will have any joy in dragging the closing SP down there.

I've just refreshed myself on the Q3 BE Update which stated:

"Environmental Impact Assessment ("EIA") for East London Industrial Development Zone ("ELIDZ") electrolyte production facility has commenced and is expected to be completed in H1 2019"

So either preparatory work at the site has been able to start concurrently with the EIA, or this has been completed early and work has started in earnest. Good news either way - the sooner we can start making electrolyte the sooner we light the blue touch paper on the behemoth that is Bushveld Energy...

Not going to be able to watch the full presentation at the minute but what jumps out to me is the electrolyte plant at East London, this is new information, is it not? I don't recall us having seen confirmation that construction has started in any previous updates. Another case of something that I think should probably have been RNS-worthy if so, instead this is likely to get buried as a bullet point in the Q4 BE update...

What do we make of the 300k sell at 12:13? Seems well below the bid at the time - an (expensive) attempt to drive the price down? A few other significant sells going through at this price too.

Alfa - thought so. Most types of power station are closed cycle (even cooling towers are actually fairly efficient in their water usage despite being "open"), and a quick Google of Medupi highlighted the air-cooling you have mentioned.

I'm no fan of coal power at all but didn't agree with the suggestion that they just churn and dump water at a massive rate. As you point out, the need to ship vast quantities of coal across the country to fire it are also bordering on the ridiculous. FWIW I think for the near term coal will play its part in the ZA grid, and will work in balance with solar and flow batteries for a while longer.

I can't tell if this is tongue in cheek or not...
