The clothes and other bits we will not touch or ever see the stock (they did leave a caveat over homewear tbh). So yeah the company will do it

@Pmoran we only need a handful of brands to fill the gaps ie kids. There are loads of potential brands - you think we can't find 2 or 3 to go here? Really?

We aren't as much as rag thinks trying to do an asos where if you type T shirt there are 200 different brands. This will be all boohoo stable of brands and then with the gaps filled with marketplace

We grew 40% all year - most brands will know the consumer won't see debs and see boo so yeah I think no issue

Just be careful though people as “marketplace” can be used as a term to say where you buy a lot of goods so asos can be a “marketplace” for clothes.

What I am being clear on is the “marketplace” business model so where we do not own, touch or interact with a third party item

Although asos is “marketplace” for shopping it’s what I call a “reseller” it buys in on bulk from a supplier and resells. There’s a chance in your example of dorethy Perkins and zalando that it is the asos reseller concept

And sorry P to add debs did already have £120m of this “market place” revenue is where they never touch the stock so it’s proven and of a decent size

@P I think that’s right although the homeward stuff and sports we don’t know or fully understand so why run any stock and capital risk?

In theory of the partners we use can deliver then it’s fine and as you say the detail of how it works re returns was not vague but to say it’s complex because in all honesty it is abs there won’t be one size fits all

Ie a sofa can’t go back the same way nipple tassels can

But I think you will see the marketplace working quickly and agree it will be small as as I said yesterday it’s just to plug the “gaps” ie kids or premium men until we get something ourselves. It’s not how rag was saying ie getting Levi’s, Ben Sherman etc etc etc as we don’t want to cannibalise our own brands (I tried 3/4 times on this)

I think the main conclusion is
- we aren’t buying in stock of third party clothing (despite rag claiming we are - although JL is very clear on this)
- we use this to scale and test new areas before we make key strategic moves ie new products or even geographies (you can partner with a Brazilian company to get traffic there when launching debs - so good traffic and no capex risk)

Just tell rag he needs to listen to JL. If he disagrees with JL tell him to sell and sod off from the board

No idea on scalable platform, datas role in test and repeat (how he compared to topshop doing this in stores! ha), data role in generating customer sales (thinks we should give it all away in wholesale - which was the same margin but as of this morning is now better margin)
