This is a positive move from boohoo and tbh would have been nice to add on to today's RNS as it's another step on the governance journey

Good to see staff come from arcadia and this was always expected as here we have bought live brands and they are ready to hit the ground running

Not to "rag bash" again but " unlike Debs there weren't many staff left" I just think it's clear to show the misunderstanding again from our resident industry dinosaur but you need to see debs as a shop window not as a what we have bought re DP and burtons.

Debenhams never would have come with staff as other than the people with the beauty connections we don't need a single thing
- supply - going to coast, oasis and warehouse suppliers
- admin, finance, hr etc - boohoo group
- infrastructure - boohoo platform
- marketing/ advertising - for debs will be a global view
-partnerships - will likely be new head count at group for full oversight

We need to start to see what we have bought and the model for putting it all together

You have to think glen is beautifully placed. It does still annoy me we don't own all of the agri-trade business as I always thought that was a genius move. We know the world is going to see a squeeze on food and companies like glen that get it in the right place at the right time are going to be invaluable

Copper is all sorts of exciting. The prospect of further non-core mine disposals will only mean specials paid to shareholders as the board aren't scared of debt (even if investors are! ha)

Coal? I get Ivans point and I would personally keep it. Have the cashflow pay to improve other metals mine or find new. But for the easy 20p - 30p gain of saying we will spin it off? I can be bought

I was happy with a target at £3. I know think that is too cheap

Oddly enough I think this is good for boohoo. I remember a few years ago chatting to CEO and the CFO of a large gambling company and they were saying how when the levy came out they hated it but actually was a blessing in disguise as it hurt smaller operators harder as they couldn’t afford it

If you think boo can knock out a £30 tracksuit but smaller people it’s £40 it hits the smaller person harder plus they are less likely to have the buying power to push the 2% up the supply chain. Also they won’t have the systems etc for the extra accounting and what not

So you’ll probably see that this levy makes it harder for a lot of smaller competitors but boo can probably push it up supply chain or pass it on (if everyone else does same)

@danny I think capita has a good chance with re opening. I’ve backed a few “breakup” stories over the years and they have always paid well

It’s common that “sum of parts” is worth more than the whole thing. My biggest nervousness with capita is whether management lose some bottle and raise equity. I can see why they would buy equally understand why investors might not back it

As you say good contracts coming in and this should only accelerate as the “debt” worry goes away (you wouldn’t want to sign a 10 year deal with someone who has a huge debt mountain)

@slippperz I think we all underestimated how much asos had to lose from not buying topshop. From the RNS it quite a chunk of revenue

This was the issue I said right right back in Nov to rag as it highlights the weakness in being a reseller you can constantly lose the brands you don’t control

I guess no amount of money could be too high for asos should they lose such a huge chunk of revenue (also takes margin in-house - although according to rag in-house and reseller margin are the same - but since the deal they aren’t?)

Yeah you’re right, need to see how it looks - I don’t think the people getting $1400 cheques will be putting in orders for a few tonnes :)

US stimulus and a return to China producing after their new year will be strong catalysts. 74,000 tonnes of copper at the LME. It’s just insane. The “copper squeeze” big banks have been talking about for years looks to be here?

Zinc seems an issue but not as well researched on that metal. Anyone have a good overview?

In reality this isn't correct. These brands will add c.£100m to rev next year(ish) and no market expectations if we do or don't. Boo and PLT will HAVE TO add £500m to £600m

So to say it's double our suppliers isn't really true. No doubt when we have been helping oasis, KM and coast and warehouse suppliers adapt to boo we have built in some capacity? So likely the issue is a lot less than we think

Each brand doesn't add the same amount of revenue. They also aren't all promising the same level of growth

Hope i've not missed anything obvious there but it's not binary re brands and their impact

@Pmor and that’s fair but my point to rag was I understand there is a lead time in the ramp up of the new brands re back office, supply or whatever you want to say. My point was say we realise that we have that issue. Rather than undertake a “Herculean” task and run the risk you say (which is what is likely to happen with a “Herculean” task) we can instead find partners for areas we aren’t ready to go at yet.

Debs needs to be a full shop window. You can’t open store to huge fanfare and it be half full. If management say “look we are taking our time on the debs brands, Arcadia ones ready to go but look we have 3/4 partners doing x ” then fine

My point was never that there wasn’t risk. It was that the marketplace gives us the flexibility to mitigate the risk as we can fill the shop with someone else’s nipple tassels until manteray are ready to launch theirs

To me this was would be seen as positive either way 1) brands are ready - wow boo did that fast and leveson is happy 2) stall on debs brands and use partners - well boo showing they take ESG serious now and look stores full and traffic is heading to the market place

Once again there’s no issue either way it’s how you position the equity story
