Is there anybody on here that can make any sense from L.T.I.'s post, because I can't. Perhaps fleccy can help me on this one? What point is L.T.I. trying to make?

Trickytree. How much do you think it costs to keep changing C.E.O.'s just for the sake of it. Any idiot can come up with just sack the C.E.O.

Buglet. I think what backs it up is the realisation that vod is way undervalued. I could be wrong? of course?.

You can often tell what a poster on here is like from there user name & he clearly is a savage, just attacking his keyboard with a load of nonsense. Best to just ignore him. If you click on trading on this london south east site, than to the right click on open an account, it will show I.S.A., which is owned by jarvis investments, so that will give you all the details. yeo's 212 may be cheaper but unless you pay fees on your deposit you need to do a money transfer which I think is very risky. I deposit funds with a debit card, much safer. Of course if like savage you feel sorry for the tax man, then take his advice. Either way, don't lose any sleep, or whinge. I am not losing any sleep, or whinging, what are you talking about? I was just pointing out to anyone on here how to save tax. As I think most on here know by now, you are on another planet. If you like giving money to the tax man that is your problem, not ours.

Rob. you can transfer for free & as I have said before this site london south east trading part of Jarvis hold for free. On this site click on trading. Trading is a flat 9.99. per deal. As for going bust, I think jarvis are as safe as anyone else, but who knows.

Savage. If you don't mind paying tax when you can avoid it then it sounds like you are the inefficient one who is not cut out for dealing on the stock market. This site, london south east hold shares in an I.S.A. free of charge.

Savage. If you buy large amounts of shares you pay more in stamp duty. If you had bought £1000,000 worth of shares in your life, you would have paid £5000 in stamp duty. Do you not read the financial press. There any many who think the reason the U.S. has done better is because in the U.K. we pay stamp duty, but they don't. Nothing to do with cap gains tax. Also I don't pay any fees for my I.S.A.

Fleccy. Those were the days. I used to transfer shares into my wife's name & get a very large tax refund.

Savage. Your are clearly better at savaging your keyboard than understanding the stock market or maths. 0.5% is a massive edge. If you buy & sell regularly at 0.5% + dealing costs you will pay a lot. It is not rocket science, just maths.

If you are hold shares in an I.S.A & your wife has an I.S.A. your can invest 40k a year tax free , so you should not have to worry about cap gains tax unless you are very rich. I have almost all of my shares in I.S.A.'s. No tax on divi as well. This site London south east hold I.S.A. shares free of charge. The tax losers are short term traders who pay stamp duty every time they buy. Ban U.K. stamp duty many wise men say, but will they listen? One reason the U.S. does better than the U.K. is they don't have stamp duty on share buys. Vod looking good, so it is a buy from me.

Fleccy. If you are betting red or black on the roulette table & paying stamp duty & dealing costs you are guaranteed to lose in the long run. We can all pretend otherwise, but that is the way it is. What happened to your, you only lose if you sell theory? Make your mind up Fleccy. You seem confused? I am losing on vod, but at least I admit it, no point pretending otherwise. Hello fleccy. Yes I can see your logic, if your wife is a non earner & you hold shares in her name she gets divi income tax free up to her allowance. My only advise is watch your costs, I.E. stamp duty, dealing costs etc. , but I don't get your, you only lose when you sell, which you clearly did as rob pointed out.

Fleccy. I did not say anything about cap gains tax. I said divi tax on the b.t. shares you bought unless they are in an I.S.A. Divi tax is charged at 8.5% on divi's over £1000 per person.

Fleccy. Well done with your Lloyds sell & B.T. buy, but it sounds to me if, in your own words, you may have just been lucky, you are playing with fire. You would have paid £500 in stamp duty + dealing costs, so unless you really know what your doing, your luck may run out. If the bt shares you bought are not in an I.S.A. then you will be hit with divi tax as well. You sound like you have too much money? Lucky you?
