Thank's Longish, As you may have gathered I hate charts, but perhaps I have to accept them as part of the stock market game? Wouldn't it be nice if share prices were just driven by a company's performance? Good today so far, not sure what Mikey is looking at though?

Longish. Obviously many would thank you for getting back to the real subject? But sorry mate, I don't get all these charts, It is all just manipulation surely? Many complain about share price manipulation, but it is all just driven by these nonsense charts, If enough idiots think it will happen, then it will happen? Self fulfilling prophecy, Bigger fool theory. The experts just pray on the sheep who just follow the charts? Unfortunately if you get enough sheep, then it can become true! A very sad fact I hate to admit??!!

mrcautious. By the way, my dad died from a very obvious condition when he was also 84! It was called old age! The N.H.S. is not perfect, but are you? I think you should apply for a job in the N.H.S. & then you can show them what they are all doing wrong? Assuming you have time splitting that with your new job at the B.B.C. telling then what they are doing wrong!? What do you do by the way?

I am very sad to here about your 84 year father dying because the NHS miss diagnosed an obvious condition? Why don't you get a job in the NHS, instead of whining about them? Then you might get some humility? What do you do then, apart from have a go at the B.B.C. or the N.H.S. ???

As for media manipulation, that is far more likely to be from social media? I started all this off, by simple stating the situation in Austria, which was clearly caused by the anti vaxxers, unless you think it is all just lies? Of course the older one's on here were young once & probably thought in there day the old should be ignored? I feel very sorry for some young people today,who perhaps are being dragged down by us old gits who live so much longer now, but perhaps smithy tried to make that point, but in a very ignorant,offensive way. We should all try & see it from all points of view? but mass vaccination is the obvious way forward , at least for the time being. Covid was not caused by old people, far more likely by the young experimenting with who knows what? Just get the jab, then hopefully we can all move on together, young & old, Listen to the song ,younger generation, by the loving spoonful. Great song!

Perhaps they should all just go away & die? & perhaps they can be good enough to take the obese with them? The final solution? Lenin. Vodafone may lose a lot from roaming charges if covid kicks off again,which is a worry I think? I just hope all these idiots who refuse the covid jabs will see reason? I am supposed to be going to Austria in January, so I am a bit cheesed off with anti vax types.

robleo. Haven't you already got a balanced portfolio, if so, then why sell vod unless you think they are a bad investment,only you can decide that? Not a lot point of asking on here, as you will get many different opinions, I will say hold vod, mole will say sell, & Mikey will just moan either way! (only joking Mikey). But you should always consider costs, mainly stamp duty. If I sold all my shares & re invested in a balanced portfolio of say 20 shares, it would cost me a lot of money, so I am staying put, but as mole correctly pointed out that is a big gamble on my part. So you can always "D.Y.O.R". I suppose!! " G.L.A.. L.O.L.". Etc!

I think we all agree that Mole's post makes sense if you are happy with an 8% to 10% return, but what is missing as always, is how to pick the right shares. If you are constantly changing your mind because some are performing badly, then the costs of selling & buying mount's up. Still good luck to all with your re-balancing act!

Hello malkis. I would be very happy to tell you how much my losses are on here,but unfortunately there are some sad people on here that will just use my honesty as a way of attacking me, one sad idiot even mentioned my wife! I am losing a lot on vod, but I'm not complaining. I have made money in other ways, & I am doing ok, but why can't some of you just be honest, except you are losing, stop moaning, & just move on? Thanks malkis & good luck. I need an sp of £2 to break even, but I can afford to hold for a long time, & of course the divi's are good.

robleo. Agree 99%! Well nobody is perfect? Good post from you! Saved me posting the same! We are losers,(me more than you perhaps) but we can become winners? Ok, that might encourage the usual looser comment, from some, but they should just grow up & get a life? Tomorrow is another day! We should all Just accept our losses, & move on?!

Hello robleo, anything above 1.10 after the shares go ex divi will do me in the short term,but obviously hope for much higher in the medium to long term. At the moment I am thinking of my investment in vod as hopefully making at least the divi, without the share price falling from around it's current level, allowing of course for the next ex divi drop. I think £2 is a dream, but dreams sometimes come true.

PFen. When you say rampers are quick to criticise negative posters, what I don't understand is why anybody who is so negative about vodafone, still holds vodafone shares. If I was that negative I would sell. We all know that vod has done badly, but we just don't need a constant reminder. We can all see that for ourselves thank you.

When you say the deb't is much more than the value of the company, that is like saying if you own a house that is worth £500k & owe £300k on a mortgage, the deb' t is more than the value of the house, which clearly it is not! The value of vodafone is about £75b, which is the market cap + deb't. in the same way as the example of the house ,you have an asset worth £500k but you owe £300k, so the value of your investment is only £200k, £500k minus £300k. But your deb't £300k is still worth less than your house, £500k. Think about it?
