That said, if I had the patience, a failed takeover might not be the worst outcome. Over time, this could become a 2,000p or even 3,000p company, powered by AI infrastructure growth among smaller businesses that is an area Goldman Sachs and others are increasingly starting to see as a net beneficiary of AI.

But realistically, most of us do not want to wait years for that. We want the takeover right?

Yep - Both are advisory resolutions, so it does not automatically force board changes, but it is still a public slap from shareholders. The board will likely need to consult larger holders and explain what it will change.

Other takeaways:

SRB tends to shake out impatient traders through boredom, but for long-term holders it offers something rare: a degree of downside protection while still retaining the potential to outperform the gold price on the upside.

Leaves only one consortium bidder so slightly negative. The fact Providence/Epiris requested almost four additional weeks is arguably encouraging. Private equity firms do not usually spend months on due diligence, legal work, financing arrangements, and management discussions unless they believe a transaction is achievable.

There are always senior leaders taking holidays over the summer, not just at the banks who may have strict holiday restrictions, but actually within the takeover target like GAMA itself. That was case during my DD work and also the last takeover share I owned Alpha Group was concluded just before the summer.

Perhaps you're right, Kendall12, at least in principle. My experience from having been through two takeover due diligence process having gathered data and helped create the DD slides and pages (including one involving what was, at the time, the UK's most trusted brand and still a customer of GAMA) is that the due diligence often extends beyond the original deadline. The main deadline being the summer holidays. A bid now would be a great start.

In reality, the only true deadline tends to be when everyone disappears for the summer holidays.

Yes, even in the absence of news, the technical indicators suggest the share price is more likely to rise than fall.

A higher AISC is not good, but a high AISC is good for future investors like me to get back in. High AISC provide much more margin expansion when gold rises.

It is quite peculiar because we know they do. I knew HGT (HG Capital Trust) did too, but if you look at the downward trend in HGT, the bottom of the chart seems to have coincided with an AI-related announcement, although nothing particularly spectacular was announced in terms of direct revenue potential.

That said, we know Gamma is already operating in areas where AI could become increasingly relevant:

Compliance and AI risk scraping: Gamma has deployed automated AI tools to scan changing telecom regulations across European markets, helping reduce the compliance burden for corporate clients.

Intelligent call transcripts and analytics: Instead of simply recording calls, Gamma can potentially embed real-time language translation, compliance monitoring and structured call summaries directly into enterprise voice services.

Outcome-based service design: Corporate clients are moving away from basic, low-cost per-minute billing and towards higher-value services. Gamma’s AI capability could allow it to bundle data insights and automation into its standard communication services, supporting higher-margin software revenue over time.

I think it is down to revenues of AI need to be made more explicit, as we know total group profits climbed 11% to £645.8 million. It is encouraging to see Microsoft shares starting to recover. Perhaps the market is just too slow to realise AI profits outside of semiconductors as we can see from Microsofts share price decline, that encouraging is recovering now and should absolutely be linked indirectly in some way to the performance of GAMA. I believe private equity will make good money and far more than I will make here.

If wider markets start to pull back, GAMA looks like a good barbell position.

I would have expected it to be above 1,000p by now. We could still see a move that has nothing to do with takeover news, potentially driven by AI-related contract wins...

Last year, the very large company I worked for negotiated hard to get the price down, as cost saving was an employee target. But the reality is that moving provider is costly, risky and disruptive. AI is also one of the employee targets this year, which is important.

That was the main reason I invested in GAMA in the first place, not the takeover angle, but the AI infrastructure I think the BOD have downplayed.

Kendall12, Yes obviously Evotec SE has far more upside if it works. But why post that here? you are fairly new to investing from your comments.

With Evotec, you’re probably talking about a potential 10 or 20-bagger, but only as a tiny position, maybe <1% of a portfolio, because the risk is completely different.

That isn’t the risk/reward profile most GAMA holders are looking for. Plenty of us would be comfortable holding far more than 1% in GAMA because it’s a different type of investment altogether.

10 June means nothing. They will extend. Extending is good as anyone who was in Alpha Group found out. Much of the money from ALPH actually went into GAMA (be it at a higher price than today dang it!
