Nikb, I had to look that up and to my surprise, Argentina not only transferred 6 tonnes of their gold reserves to UK vaults last year as you state, but hold 37tonne or about 60% of their total gold reserves in UK.

I was never worried about Argentina starting another war, but for those who had such doubts, this should put your mind at ease…

Ralph, I don’t see this as being bad for us. To the contrary I think the better Argentinias economy is and the likely they are at resorting to the good old nationalistic playbook. Yes they may attract some investors that might have favoured us, but on balance I think it is favorable to us if they can dig themselves out of the hole they have been in for so long…

Wasn’t it Repsol that got shafted by Argentina a decade or so ago? Would be poetic justice if they ended up as SL partner (if indeed my recollection is correct ofcourse)

Buzz, I don’t argue that funding is not the biggest obstacle. It likely is. What I am suggesting is that this would probably hold true for the vast majority of large oil projects and hence Chess stating the obvious.

Oil investments has since Sealion appraisal become a thing of controversy, so raising money is obviously harder in this environment- that’s not unique to this project, but it does require a money savvy project lead with a respected name and reputation.. now if only we could find such an outfit…🙃

Chess, i suspect you are right about your first comment. It’s too small a percentage to attract a mid sized oil company. But was wondering whether a service provider might be interested? Is there any history of such an arrangement in the industry?
