Indeed Guitarsolo, reits were treacherous for pre 2016 investors, ive only owned this one post drop, however i owned hammerson, all their accounts were *near fraudulent in that period, in fact at one point they rejected an offer like £6 per share as it materially undervalued the company, think the shares ended up near 4p eventually prior to a couple of cosolidations..... i played the rights issue well though, although did not sell out quite soon enough when it went onto a realistic peak thereafter.... but made some back.

the froth is definately out the industrty and i see now nrr a great investment... i would happily buy more, they seem to be doing a lot of the right stuff, so that i respect

I find it a bit strange when people say Serica has inflated it's share price/ market cap because of it's dividends, or even worse when someone says serica overvalued in comparison to enquest then goes and compares mkt cap of serica and enquest. if you want to buy & own 100% serica,(just an example no premium stated) you pay market cap minus cash lets say 460million. you want to own all of enquest you pay 240million, plus 350million debt -- aka close to 590M plus(or whatever it is at the moment) is it not more appropriate to look at the value of reserves to enterprise value?

i look on serica being the cheaper of the 2 at the moment, but no doubt if enquest paid down their debt, they would increase their mkt cap somewhat.. i own both so don't really mind what happens too much, think i would welcome a merger. However it's probably best we all wait and hear the terms as no doubt the management teams at Sqz and Enq have the best handle on this.... lets see

Serica feels like a basket case at the moment, these further delays are inexcusable, they should (and operator) be prepared to go above and beyond to have this running and repaired, credibility could be come an issue, no more disappointments please

In my books sparky paying down the debt more than is scheduled is bad move, they make money from the debt, a good margin, so as long as the cost of the debt is low it adds to profits rather than subtract. Quite impressed by this Co

Or even put into a vct, appealing to both std and higher rate tax payers

Thanks Temple_of_doom, i'll need reread your message to get mu head round that, sounds very interesting. i often wondered if retiring pre 58, then paying in 3600 anually might be a tax efficient way to contribute while hopefully not working and able to use personal allowance, but need read your comment let it sink in ref lump sums, and maxing tax free cash, thanks, food for thought there

Jrlse, noted you mentioned tax free income of 15K, interested how that one is, is that personal allowance plus div allowance or something else. keen to understand methods to minimise tax as i approach retirement!

Few reasons why I like Nesf, I can’t have solar on my own home, but lets say with a hypothetical investment of £12000, I have effectively a 20kw array in the south/mid England. Also I get a good dividend. Also I like the idea of leverage, so when you invest 12000, you are getting approximately £22000 of assets with around 10,000 debt built in (inc pref shares). the margin on the debt is good and probably contributes about 6%, half , of the dividend

Good margin of safety with this company too, so in fact put quite a lot into this one, so hopefully won’t be caught out

Indeed impossible at this stage to know which better to hold but despite having plenty I bought more serica on the day of the announcement as believe it the most undervalued, but who knows. And it may not even happen, hope they are able to maintain a 9pc plus div going forward for the entire co if goes through

Stunning destruction in value at halfords, 2009 to 2018 share price mostly above £3, half the sales anually and a margin close to 9-10% margin fell all the way from there to rebase around 6 before falling to 2 to 3%, if you want 3% buy sainsburys and it has a similar div to halfords, Halfords has been hard to anyone that has owned pre 2018, i really wonder if they can stage a recovery at some point. Surely they can do better than they are? get back to better margins and the share price could double. but their legacy business bikes and car parts has withered and died

Noted that's likely what you meant, if we're merging we won't get the full value of our "paper" our equity, won't go so far, in comparison if were more highly valued

Couerdelion, noted comment ref depressed levels of Enquest, hard say which is more depressed, enquest on a p\e basis, however on a buyout basis, or reserves to EV basis, I'd say Serica is cheaper by a mile... However I hope deal can be done, but importantly on good terms for all

At the end of the day both are great profitable companies, and you won't go wrong owning or buying either, and if they merge, you'll likely have unlocked further value

Hoping any merger values serica accordingly, on a EV to 2p reserves basis unbelievably serica is substantially cheaper than enquest, so that will need to be factored in, and surely it will. i

Not too sure on this one, i personally hadn't been planning on downsizing my position, wonder how this return of capital would play into the combined group share price at this time, see enquest up on buying and volume so will we destroy a little capital if we wish to reinvest. guess it's an unknown..... o well worst case put it into something else, tons of stuff good value at the moment

Inflation adjusted its like 39 dollars vs 2005, same of course with finished products, today's 1.20 a litre is a mere fraction of what we were paying before, another reason, extraordinary prices are bs

Serica is probably my largest holding but I'm "beginning" to feel the need change the mood music. They need to perform above and beyond after the poor recent years. Realise it's mostly due to issues beyond their control. I didn't like his comment on the call, make serica great again, it should never have been "not great"
