We're all familiar with the tax losses held by serica and that most of them relate to oil assets. is anyone aware of which companies operating in the north sea, hold susbstantial tax losses which can be used against gas?

would be interesting to know. was thinking of kistos but they don't have any for the north sea if i remember right.

RoyGa, yes seems to have accepted hastily, i'd imagine as the car industry is on it's knees, could well have been worse news on the horizon for dwl -- so a merger a good way to cut and run -for some

Based on the share price increase today this offer is extremely poor, jeez up just 10%. seriously? we trade on a PE of less than 6......... lets hope someone else puts an offer in, this one is lousy

Just rough calculations, and did take into account the debt, otherwise much higher % over market cap....

If this was sold to the likes of Schroders Greencoat, at last years prices they'd have paid double the market cap, at todays 180% the market cap. This will rerate in time. buyout perhaps plus 80%. the fund could even be taken private by next energy. what an opportunity

A multiple day rally, now that is a big ask, wish I'd invested in this pre 2022 must have been a great ride, likely in UK oil stocks such as these we'll never see the likes again... I'll be happy to see 40to50 percent from here....

Does anyone remember back in may when share price of grid effectively doubled in a couple of months before giving most of it back.... That could happen here, high chance we get back to nav, even if fleetingly, let's hope it happens

One the tax credit rolls in, once interest rates drop, there will almost certainly be a substantial rise in the share price of this fund, it has simply been their annus horibiilus - hopefully thats spelt right.....

Bought some more here today, div looks payable for the foreseeable, potential substantial upside too... Great ceo

Parkmead up 69% at the moment

Substantial tax losses with parkmead if I read that right, guess the market will see this rns positively

I have a holding in these and noted the recent decline. No doubt the company has a lot of debt. It's hard to see if they are paying it down on paying it down due to the sub level accounts. I remain quite positive in this co however as in theory it should be making enough to pay a div and pay down debt - why? well these large scale producers are surely achieving payback on inv in 6 years so surely that equates to a 16% return enough pay the div and then pay int and possibly reduce debt... here's hoping at least

In the past I've been keen on Serica due to their good metrics. It was a great company. But with the 78% tax rate it's as good as nationalised. Without shareholders being compensated. This doesn't sit well with me and the loss I incurred although not life changing will make sure in life I legally will make sure the government gets as little as possible as their actions cost me. Hopefully my legal actions will make it cost them.... (gov) they've ruined a much needed industry

Well i actually bought some of these into my trading account, have a few in my isa,

bit the bullet as i like the company and to be fair i cannot sell anything from my trading account as will incuur capital gains to if this goes up, great, if it goes down -- welll Great! i can then sell something and offset against this.....

I've been very uk market focused and post covid done pretty well via lots of recovery and inflation plays, but apart from that it's a terrible market, ftse 100 at 8000 feels more like 6000 in 2017... Ultimately Idont want invest in anything where the UK government can get there greasy mits in.... Tired of their nonsense

Well i was looking over a few metrics this morning on whether i want to buy some more Serica, buy some enquest or ithaca. When looking at EV to 2p reserves, Serica was the cheapest by a very long shot. Overall Serica metrics to me at least looked the best of all three. So it seems to me that Serica in theory is the best option going forward...

interestingly looking at the value that Ithaca paid for Eni's assets, on a reserve base comparison it was 270% higher than where serica is valued... so on a takeover basis 170% potential upside..... I'm already heavily into Serica so will need see if it is worth increasing holding more, but as they say it's best to invest in your no 1 idea rather than your no2 or 3 or 20..... think enquest would be my second choice, with ithaca a very close 3rd
