The latest Investing Matters Podcast with Jean Roche, Co-Manager of Schroder UK Mid Cap Investment Trust has just been released. Listen here.
Has a deal been done? ??
Am I the only one buying?
Yes Mark and the dividend isn’t covered; that’s what I’m saying. When the dividend per share exceeds earnings per share, the remainder is being paid from net assets; i.e. from the balance sheet.
BODs often come up with some spiel like “to reflect our confidence blah blah blah” but it is a gamble that erodes book value.
Same @Eighteen. 59% gain in less than 18 months. Not bad for what is essentially a dividend stock. My only regret is not going more heavy, but that's just hindsight.
I'll be setting a price alert for sub £6 and will review & revalue it then.
187.8 You were saying Mark?
@Steve305 and @MarkBellUK Have we forgotten about payout yield? No point getting excited about a 6% dividend if it is being paid from the balance sheet. Look at the EPS. 101 stuff.
Trading 212 is saying DIGS have now been acquired and trading is suspended.
Anyone know the final price, timescales for shares to liquidate or any final dividends?
Agreed @barnetpeter. Someone is still selling in £65k chunks, so a potential rally could be futile atm. This is not too appetising against a backdrop of business uncertainty, a large spread and even a drop to the £6 line is 14% deeper into the red.
I think we may need to wait for the next update to see which way this goes...
I use ii and 212. ii goes through instantly and you get a better price/spread. 212 took a week to execute some recent buy orders on BOTB and the spread is dreadful. The upside of being forced to wait was that I bought even lower! lol
I have noticed a large number of small buy orders over the past couple of days - like one or even zero shares! Does anyone know the technical rationale behind this - or perhaps loads of teenagers are buying!?
I am beginning to wonder if this could go all the way to £12. P/E of 16 with anticipated lower earnings next year and a director sell-off to boot! It certainly is a volatile little rascal.
@Andrewukdealer
Have you read today's RNS? I quote our new CEO, "In particular, enhancing our card-led proposition through ALL SALES CHANNELS and accelerating the increase in our capability and capacity to fulfil sales demand via our ONLINE channel, and so capitalise upon the move to ONLINE adopted by more customers over the last year."
Perhaps you could explain how CARD, after the re-opening of non-essential businesses, can restore their physical store revenue without cannibalising their online sales?
They have launched a new website, an app and are far more price-competitive than Moonpig, Funky Pigeon and the like who do not have their own supply chain (printing plant). They are also advertising their app all over social media. Just because they don't run radio and TV ads (which cost a few quid) doesn't mean they do not recognise the opportunitiy in online.
I would also suggest you read up on their growth strategy which ties up their online capability with their physical stores; e.g. click & collect balloon displays, which for some reason, people cannot get enough of. Physical stores are their USP whilst new online cardmakers are coming on stream.
@JoeKenny End of June/ beginning of July. Looking forward to them!
I wonder why Richard Withers has, well, withered away? Something to do with the FCA investigation?
Since the results, it’s been doing it’s best to break this support line with no real bounces. I think if this support goes, next stop is £30 by the looks of it.
Oh OK, thanks :)
I’m also a convert and turned my back on Moonpig for good! I’ve concerted family & friends too - many of whom are co-investors.
Bargain product prices and 150% up on my position. What’s not to like? I’ve been trimming along the way but there’s still plenty of mileage in this by my calculations.
Have had a good look at these and would like to pull the trigger. However, this would mean having more shares than the CFO (just £4k), which does not inspire confidence. If a CFO can’t back his own company then why should I? That’s a major red flag for me.
